Just read the fine print in a Panasonic ad today - of the 3 years warranty the panel only has 2 years warranty - and isnt the panel the costliest part?

Hi Psolaiappan, seems you did your homework :licklips: anyway the answer is no, Kings was taking long to fetch UT50 so I decided to skim through other shops & eventually hit Sandeep Electronics (initially didnt think of him since he has a very small shop with little display products). He was initially offering for 81900 then slipped to 78k but since I am his age old customer & could rekindle the relationship i managed to knot the deal at 76k.

Yes bro that is true... the extended warranty is on Panel only but thats the one that matters the most, is costliest and is susceptible to failure more than anything else... so its as good as complete warranty.
Finally got my 50UT50 delivered yesterday (it was lying in dealer's storeroom since last week as I was out of town) alongwith HT (XH 170),installation should happen by tomorrow (today being 15th Aug). Will be putting up details & pictures (if possible) soon.
Any suggestions on what all to ask/check with Panasonic guy when he comes for installation...

If installing on the wall, just make adequate preparations for cabling and hiding them.

Thanks. # of posts might be high and I might have taken longer than expected as I had to buy it for my 2nd house in a tier-2 city where I travel only on weekends/holidays & its difficult to find demo pieces, negotiate/know the prices, get the delivery quick... my slow decision making didnt help either. Thankfully we do not have restrictions of no of posts here...:clapping: BTW just noticed that you have many more posts than I do
Thanks kix you have been a gr8 help in decision making and sharing various aspects from your experience... the street price is 75-77K though I have got it at 70K because of local influence/contacts.
Looking forward to a better viewing experience while learning more from friends on this forum..

UT50 is a poor performer in the light. If the difference is less, and if it is not too late, why nt opt for the ST50?

Thanks Blasto for your suggestion, had seen this video/review while making the decision as well. The decision was made considering all the factors including price/value and my budget

I have an offer for 65.5K of 42UT50 with HT and one 3D eyewear. Is it OK. Please advice. Prices for 42UT50 is not being floated much on the thread.

Blasto got a quote for 60K in Hyd. So if your dealer is not coming down, insist on 2 pairs of 3D eyewear.
No I din't.. All **50s are still not "released" inhyderabad!!
If you are referring to http://www.hifivision.com/television/27668-pansonic-xt50-owners-thread-30.html#post399858, I meant that Iam getting 42UT30 for same price as XT50 (as in 50k) and 42ST30 for 60k (infibeam).

Yes, the dealer agreed for 2 pair glasses for 65k offer.
I am in a dilemma. I have zeroed in for following offers and have to choose one in my budget 60k to 70k.
Sammy 40EH6030+BDplayer+2 3D eyeware for 65k
Panny 42UT50+HX170 HT+2 3D eyeware for 65k
Panny 42ST30+HX170 HT+1 3D eyeware for 70k
Some body help in choosing the deal.
TV is for living room. Day light can be controlled by window curtains. Windows one at the side and other at the rear of the likely TV position. Room will be lit with normal CFL bulbs. Lot of opinions read on UT50 getting shaded in the daylight indoors. Personally inclined to panny.

As soon as ambient light increases, the plasma picture will look washed out. If light control is an issue, buy LED.

ST30 is where plasmas begin to make sense if you have any light in the room IMO..
Not much costly anyway..
