Panasonic 50UT50 urgent purchase in Bangalore - best price

LED TVs that may be considered:

~100k: Sony 40HX850/46HX750/46NX720, Samsumg 6 Series 46"
Below 100k: there are many models but in my opinion they are not really worth considering vis-a-vis plasma

Many (LED fans) may disagree but LEDs are best in LG LM6600 series and above, or Samsung 6 Series and above or Sony NX720 series and above (NX720, HX750, HX850, HX925, etc.)

I have settled for 2 TVs' - LED 42 LM 7600 or Panasonic ST series.. its going to be long wait I guess.....

one thing is for sure. IN showrooms the LG LEDs look really great. Even their HD stuff they play makes the TV stand out. How they perform at homes are different. The ST series has received outstanding reviews. Prepare to shell out a lac!!!

I heard from a friend that Plasma TV emit a lot of heat from front whilst using (all TV do emit heat).. Is it true?
It is true that on the whole, plasma TV will emit more heat (from the front as well as back), especially after long (3+) hours of continuous usage. The front can become as warm as 45-48 C (not confirmed, so please do not flame).

LCD/LED TV's will become warm from the rear end where power supply is located. The front panel will just be faintly warmer than body temp.

On the whole when installing flat panels on the wall (especially) plasma, keep enough ventilation. Do not install behind a custom built recess on the wall. Such a recess may look good but bad for ventilation.

I will further advise that do not keep the plasma TV on standby during long hours (say overnight).

What abt 50ST50?

Infibeam sells for 1,02,733/- May be we can quote this for a little bargain.;)[/QUOTE

but 50 inch is too much for me.. bcoz my viewing distance is just 7 to 8 feet.. do u have any info about the price of 42ST50 in chennai

Hi,

Even my viewing distance is almost same 7ft or maximum 8ft. Planning to buy 50 inch. Why do you think it is too much ?

Ok folks time for update...

The market price for this piece (alongwith 3D glasses) is 75-78K in most places in North India, although I heard someone being quoted upto 82k.. mind it that the MRP is 90k. Panasonic HT does come free with this model (not with 50XT50)..

I have asked the dealer to get one & it should come in 1-2 days... have been able to use contacts to get it priced @ 70K approx...

At 7 feet, perhaps a 50" will be a bit overwhelming. So unless you are sure that you will not move to a bigger home or move the TV to another room where viewing distance could be lengthened, I will say that 42" is a better suited size for you.

The Panasonic showroom guys in Hyderabad are quoting P50UT30D at around 85K. But P50UT50D is only 76K in flipkart!

1) Are they quoting a huge price because UT50D is not available in Hyd?
2) Is it better to wait for stock to arrive than buy UT30D?
3) Also any idea on how Pana 50UT50D compares with Samsung PS50E550? Are the prices for both similar due to less features in UT50D? I thought Pana plasmas were always expensive than Samsung plasmas.

Please wait for UT50 which is a 2012 model and should be soon available - infact if you place the order, they should get it for you in a week.

Both Pana 50UT50 & Samsung PS50E550 are good and you cant go wrong with either of them... only "less" feature UT50 has is the built-in Wifi Dongle I guess.. not sure if there is anything else...

Panasonic is always known for best mid & hi-end plasmas but this year they have done a gr8 job at entry level with X/XT50 models as well... also note that Pana offers 3 yrs warranty alongwith all Plasmas whereas for Samsung, you cannot get it even with additional payment (as I heard from people)... and this is an important factor considering the risks associated with such gadgets..

Thanks rajatk! Yes, I enquired about warranty in Samsung Plaza, Hyderabad. The showroom confirmed that warranty is available only for the 1st year. For the 2nd and 3rd years, we can get service warranty, but we will be charged for the parts! Nonsense! :)

I feel Samsung may lose a lot of business to the mid-tier crowd. Pana will only be happy to cash in!

Am planning to wait till Diwali to invest in P50UT30. Hoping the price will come down during that time or probably get some freebies!

Do you mean 50UT50 and not 50UT30... bcos it is difficult to find UT30 as of today, forget about diwali...

Anyways always better to go for the latest one with newest features..

85K is too much. 78~80K is more like it. It is possible that the high price is because it is not available.

DO NOT BUY UT30D. The UT30D is not half as good as the new 2012 models.

I say that Samsung 51E550 is better than UT50 in terms of quality but UT50 will have 2 years of extended warranty. Plus Sammy is cheaper too and the 3D BD package of Sammy is better value for money than Panasonic's free HT offer in my opinion.

Go to the shopkeeper. Tell him that you will not pay more than 78K for UT50. Say to him that this is your final offer, his final chance to make a sale else you are buying Samsung. Ask him to speak to his manager. If he does not budge, buy the 51E550.

I do want to buy the E550. The 3D BD is a great bonus. Only thing that put me off was the 1 year warranty.
That's the reason I shifted to Panny. Is it better to wait till Diwali for UT50? Right now they say they have only UT30 in stock.

I do hope the 3D is good in UT50 compared to E550. 3D is a must for me.

Snapped price of Panasonic 50UT50 from Rs.81900 to Rs.76000 through mere haggling here at Panvel, Navi Mumbai. The model would be delivered after 7 days. Wanted before olympics actually. HT would be reaching my home after appx 25 days.

Congratulations - you are probably the 1st UT50 owner here on hifi... 76K sounds good and is at lower end of street price...:clapping::clapping:
