Mate...where did you buy GT50 from.....hows your experience been so far with the set..over and above the issues mentioned by you earlier....
I mean do you recommend this set.....My VT has gone bad and hence asking ....Panny is refunding me as VT50 series is not available in the country....
Need to decide whether to buy GT50 or go with Sammy..

If you want my recco. You should go with Samsung. For me it does not work out financially. so I will stick with a Panasonic.

My 50GT50 is doing great. The originally purchased piece was the demo one as the Panasonic store didn't have a fresh one. Used the demo piece for 4 months before the delivered a fresh one from Thailand. Demo one had burn in issues due to improper usage.
Interesting. Some guy on the AVSforums claimed that he bought a floor piece with significant IR and after a few weeks it was all gone.

GT series in India is only up to 50 inches, VT series is available in 65".

I think we never had a 55" plasma in India, if I am not wrong..
65ST50 is the only model physically available in India now.. costing around 2 lacs plus

You are correct. Last June/July, there were two 65" models announced - 65ST50 and 65VT50. The later never saw the day. Even the former, I am yet to see.

That's quite surprising. Here there is a very small difference in price between 50 inch and 55 inch, whereas the difference between 50 to 60 or even 55 to 60 is substantial. Hence the question.

The largest selling segment for flat panel TVs in India is 32" or below (nearly 60%). This is followed by 40~42" (30%+). Only a handful go for larger sizes.
My theory: Since there is not much market for 46", 50" and above, adding more sizes will only cannibalize into each other territories. LEDs have stuck to 46", 55" and 65" skipping the 50". Plasma's have skipped the 46" and 55".

Fresh stock of GT50 in 42" and 50" is arriving in Pune in a couple of days. Price of 50GT50 will be around 100K.
