Many tvs have limiited codec decoding themsleves. I suggest u invest in a media player like WDTV ( apprx 5-6k ) and hook it up to your tv.. would be able to play all formats.. problem solved...

Exactly what I would recommend, and have done! In fact I really don't understand why TV makers are trying to do everything in the TV - it's sure to detract from the effort that should go into improving the core function of the TV - great display. Removing this half-baked player function from the TV would also reduce its cost, which one can then invest in a good media player that does *it's* job well.

Im residing in Pune and Im looking to purchase the Viera TH-P42V20D Plasma TV but it doesnt seem to be available in most of the places that I have tried. Please help me locate this particular model in Pune or if some dealer can ship it from anywhere in the country, Id happily buy from them. Also, is a replacement/newer model out in place of P42V20D? please advise.

P50V20 is available for 72K in Devi International. Also heard today they would launch the GT series from Panasonic. I was given a price of 55K for P42GT20.
