Panasonic ST30 Owners Thread

VT30 , maybe during christmas ? I am not so sure vasu..

I saw a 65VT30 in hyderabad yesterday.. Also samsung 64D8000.
The D8000 seem to be a clear winner.

Also, The 65VT30 is quoted double the cost of 64D8000.

Panasonic is not going to come to senses.
Expect the 50VT30 to be around 1.5L during release. For 20k more, you can get the 64D8000.

BLASTO , thier state wise pricing also sucks.. They first need ot fix thier crappy wesbite and post price like samsung on website itself .

Panny needs to rethink thier pricing strategy..

No it was a fast action.

I will post new pics tomorrow ASAP. Cable signal is too grainy on all channels and not to forget the color setting which has 50% sharpness..

so overall it produces much smoother images , not too smooth either giving rounded edges.

Also since all the moving scenes , its very hard to get a good snap. I will try faster shutter speed tomorrow and post pics.

also do remember that pics say a different story than real world quality. But trust me , after seeing a HD movie/clip on this TV , you will not like to go watch a SD clarity movie/channel. Thats the main reason i am buying a ADTV HD.

:lol:Thats true actually.I'm upgrading from old 20" CRT.;) I was looking for LCDs. Then looked at plasmas it became 3D Plasma and ended up with 42ST30.:ohyeah:

I paid 64K which includes 1 glass+1000Rs airtel voucher+1 keyboard+ 5% icici cash back of 1000

where u bought it?

You are confusing two different things. One of the main aims of plasma manufacturers is to increase panel life. Or in other words, decrease phospor aging. If phospor ages quickly, it will only elevate the burn-in. Not decrease it - Reason being, the difference in ages between different areas of the panel becomes evident if the areas displaying white ages 'more quickly' than areas with black which do not age.

Faster phospor is a completely different concept to tackle 3D. It just means that the phospor is more 'responsive' to changes in signals.

The 2D TVs display 50 frames every second. Inconsistencies in creation and display of the image are masked as the images are 'almost' same between two consequent frames. Few inconsistencies are evident in fast moving scenes though if the panel is not able to cope up. Thats about it.

But in 3D TVs, the TV has to alternate between two different images (one for each eye) 50*2 times a second. Any inconsistencies will be blown up and show up as blurs or artifacts or ghost images and screw up the 3D experience (which is already screwed up even if done perfectly) if the phostpor does not react to the 3D signal fast enough.

Theoretically though, if you watch only 3D content all the time, you will not get burn-in at all as, no two times the TV displays the same image (but alternating image always). Problem comes only when you watch 2D content in the 3D TV (as in 95% of times).

This change to fast phospor has reset 2-3 years of innovation in making the slower phospor more burn-in free. So the 3D TVs will become as roburst as the 2009 2D TVs in probably the 3rd gen 3D plasmas. ie next year ones. Thats just a speculation though.

Blaso,
so you mean, one should not go for 3D plasma, if 95% of the time 2D content is viewed. what is the different options for 2D TV with neo plasma. panasonic has stopped highly acclaimed V20 model which was coming with neoplasma.
all of the 2011 neoplasma models are coming in 3D.

I dint mean that.. There is no 2D neoplasma TV today which is wierd.
I just want you to be aware of the slightly elevated IR levels in the new plasmas.

Did you check with Devi international, they still have some V20 and VT20 for 64k and 75.5k price.

@Sanjgupt

While updating my TV , the screen was made to show a static screen for almost 15mintues (damn my 512kbps) and there was zero IR , not even the slightest IR.

Still i havent seen any IR thus far. But i did encounter FBr issue , but its so minute. and it happened with only one movie i watched (Low PQ , zoomed in and too much contrast in it)

It is hard to let the old ghosts go away..
There is no burn in any TVs from panasonic and samsung anymore.. Believe me..

Below is the picture of my 2 year old samsung plasma with watching with black bars 70% of the time and channel logos 90% of the time..

Spot the bars or any channel logos and you can get the TV for free.

Alternatively you can see the pics of vramak's TV below (exactly same samsung B450) which was (ab)used in store demo in dynamic mode and handed over to him..

Start watching the TV guys.. Just avoid black bar content for first 100 hours and keep contrast ~50%.. Nothing bad will happen.

Airtel DTV HD :

Pics were taken in haste , there might be slight shakiness , check with the panasonic logo if its steady pic or not :D

Blacks are simply awesome !!! No words... check out the pics , my curtains are golden yellow in color , even still the blacks are awesome !!!!

@Andre19 , here are some pics , check out on News Channel clarity(SD)

My take thus far with ADTV HD with ST30 :

1.) Doesnt support 1080p (none of the DTH AFAIK supports)
2.) only normal SD channel sound are controlled through ADTV remote when the audio output is taken out through optical. when HD channels are played , the volume is to be controlled through AVR . Kind of annoying from handling perspective.
3.)ST30 outputs only 2 channels
4.) Brightness is slightly low . increasing brightness results in greying of the blacks , instead of increasing the brightness
5.) Way around is to increase Contrast . the screen becomes gorgeous .. :clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping: , but since i am still <200 hours in breaking in process, i have to bring down the contrast and brightness to ~50% levels.
6.) There are some trailing effect seen , mainly i think its due to 1080i(interlacing) . but very negligible..
7.) NAT GEO HD is simply STUNNING !!
8.)Airtel logo is not transparent in few channels
9.)There is slight Audio-video delays , but its rectified with AVR delaying feature.

Dont set brightness > -5 to 0.
I have set the Contrast to 70 and it is doing great. Caliberated contrast is 66.

BTW, Is your low brightness issue global or only on ADTV?
For me ADTV is no different from any other source.
