yes. you could present your doubt to the installation personnel who would come to your house for TV-installation. regarding the wireless set-up, i think you would need to take help from the 'VT20 owners' thread' here.

I just wanted to avoid connecting a media player also. I am not a big movie buff, accept for 3D, i will be mainly playing games in PS3 and would like the output from both VT20 and PS3 to Sony home theater.

alright. you could do this too. moreover, updating the PS3's firmware would let you enjoy 3D blu-ray movies too.

Hi Guys,

After reading so much about VT20, looks like there is a serious rising & floating black issue with all 2010 models.
It is still unresolved and looks like i will have to wait for VT30 launch in India.
Can members elaborate on this further, how bad are these issues.
Also I looked at 50 ST30 models, they have the lightest filter in the glass panel and ends up reflecting more ambient light than VT20, also it does not have as dark of black level than the VT20.

Can members from ST30 and VT20 suggest how serious these issues are? Is it really worth spending the bucks on any of these models?
As such Panasonic is not much bothered about 2010 models, that leaves only ST30 as a choice or wait for launch of 2011 models in India.
I know I would be shelling out more for any latest releases, but i am not left with many options.
You guys suggestion would be highly appreciated.:mad::mad:

Wait for Panasonic 2012 models :) i.e the ST50, VT50 etc .... :licklips:

Panasonic India might launch them late 2013 after it has become obsolete in the rest of the world and charge you twice the price than the rest of the world :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

If you ask me just buy the Samsung 51D550 :) Best vfm 3d

he already said that he's a little bothered by reflection even on the ST30, so would sammy register on his mind as a good choice ? hmmmm....may be, or may be not if he sees in person. otherwise capt., the 51D550 would really be a very good choice too.

IMO you shouldnt bother about that floating blacks thing much, even more so since you dont happen to be a videophile. i could notice only one instance of it on my set once while playing god of war 3, that too for a fraction of a second, but really not bothersome to me. apart from that, this TV amazes me with every movie i watch on it. check the link given below. 'blasto' echoes a similar thought. you could PM him for more details :

and if you are ready to shell out something to the tune of 1.3-1.5L for the 50VT30 then go ahead. or if you are ready till diwali/jan 2013 for the prices of it to come down (even at that time you would get confused between the VT30 and the VT50, which stands announced now ;)), then better wait :)

well, take a hard port or hard stbd now :ohyeah:

Would the Panasonics dropping black level effect calibrations? e.g... would it be better to have it calibrated after 1500 hours vs 130 hours, since the blacks are even better after 1500?

Well I am getting off in couple of weeks and hopefully will have an answer by then. I am a big fan of Panny so Sammy is out of the question.

As long as i can manouver myself out to a good Panny deal, I will settle for that.:):)

Croma guys are playing hard balls with me, any suggestions/other place I can get a VT20, what price/freebies one should expect. Also can you clarify on Panasonic guarantee, Croma is giving one year guarantee only and asking for addl 5000 bucks for extended 3 years.
Their best offer is 65K+1year guarantee+1 glass+1 wireless keyboard+some 2D movies which I am not interested in.
I have asked for 65K+3year guarantee+2 glasses+1 wireless keyboard+two 3D movies

What you guys have to say, I believe three years Panasonic guarantee should come automatically unless they have a Demo piece in hand. There is no way to confirm that the set running hrs are not tempered with.

3 year warrenty is standard. Dont know what they are smoking.
But ones with 3 year warrenty are 70k elsewhere for new piece.
I think this is a demo piece.

Also, the usage number cannot be tampered as far as I know. You can rely on that number.

better get it confirmed from panasonic itself. i fear the croma guys have in mind that the 3yr-warranty thing was limited to purchases made in diwali-period. if panasonic confirms that your set would be having 3-yrs of warranty, then just get the TV from croma and then you can follow-up with panasonic to receive the 3-yr warranty documentation. they are really very prompt in this. when you get down, i could tell you how to go about with this. also, if you want, i too could ask panasonic about the warranty-thing.

Thanks Mate,

Please go ahead on my behalf.
What do you have to suggest abt the offer from Croma, they were offering the same set for 70K just a couple of days back with a Samsung HT worth 7K.

Also I need to know if any HDMI cables come along with the set. One should be a standard supply.
If it is a fresh set than should i go for it? Debatable???

Cheers

Refer above thread post about Panasonic 3years extended warranty
Which says
The 1 year warranty is on the entire set & the extended 2 years warranty is on the panel only.
That means After one year any parts replacement, tech visting charges towards owner's account.
I was under the impression from forum that 3 years Panasonic warranty is for the complete set with parts replacement.
So any issues with VT20 after one year is at Owner's cost and not Panasonic headache, I hope members are well informed abt it.

as per my knowledge, croma ppl across their various stores have utterly poor inter-store communication, as well as a poor knowledge of ongoing offers and discounts from the brands themselves. i could clearly read the big question marks on the sales personnel's faces when at the time of purchasing my TV i had mentioned of the 3-yr warranty thing. IMO the 70k offer was a good one, but the best i think should be the one which offers you two glasses. uptil now, which croma store have you been following up with ? bhayander one, or some else ? even croma goregaon, malad, thane, and juhu have been known to provide good offers. try at these centres too.

one more thing. do check out at hypercity too. its very probable that they might've exhausted their VT20 stocks now, but still no harm in trying. may be you could run into some luck. they also used to offer two 3d glasses with the TV.

and yes, i have emailed panasonic. lets wait for their reply :)

also, please go through this thread. might help you come out clearer on warranty aspects :

Is 66k good price for this with 1 year warranty? I am offered 69 for 1+2 year warranty.
