Penny 50 vt 20 group deal mumbai

My VT20 has crossed 360 hours as on date...and i recently had my first experience with IR on the set. It was the "Star movies HD" logo and the "movie name" which preceeds the logo which got retained. Movie was Planet of the apes.... I had recently started watching TV in 16:9 mode....

The IR was really bad .........had to play 3d movie back to back and couple of hours of D-nice slides to get it out.

Tata sky logo hasnt created a problem so far. But beware of the Star & discovery HD logos. Safest is the NG one which is also slightly translucent like tata sky....if you are watching in 16:9 mode

Thank for the info, appreciated. Could you elaborate NG, have never heard of it before? I have short listed Tata Sky and hope it will have the least issues with IR in the set.
Also see my reasoning for short listing Tata Sky to other DTH providers.
Further advice from fellow members is appreciated.

Airtel vs. Videocon vs. Tata Sky

After digging deep into the packages provided by above DTH providers, Tata Sky is a clear winner thou no of HD chs are less compare to Videocon and Airtel, Tata Sky Megalite annual is the best offer with no hidden costs, giving the best value package and is bang on the bucks.:):):)

Below are my revised ratings:

1) Tata sky
PROS - Best value for money, no hidden costs, best HD DVR recorder interface, best hard drive capacity 500GB, Dolby Digital plus 7.1 surround sound
Transparent Logo and least issues with IR/burn in for plasma owners.
No hidden cost.
CONS Least no of HD chs offered, 8 in total
Read few articles that point to TATA SKY's capacity constraint, from what I have read and heard the increase in TATA SKY's channel count is seriously dependent on the next satellite launch by ISRO, and that too sometime in 2012. I hope they will overcome this issue sooner than later.
2) Airtel
PROS Max no of HD chs offered, 14 in total, Dolby Digital plus 7.1 surround sound
CONS Hidden cost, inferior DVD r compare to Tata Sky, Many complains from users wrt after sale services.
Information available on Airtel website is ambiguous.:mad::mad:

3) Videocon PROS - More no of HD chs than Tata Sky, 12 in Total, cheapest HD package compare to rest.
CONS - no 5.1 surround audio.:sad::sad::sad:

Further feedback/suggestions/inputs from fellow members are highly appreciated and would be useful to all in short listing the best HD DTH provider in India.
I better post this on a different thread.:):):)

My set crossed 200 + hr, till today i used to watch in stretched mode with slides sometimes. I thought of viewing it normal, after seeing your experience i have to rethink. How long I can continue like this?

i forgot to add one thing. i still watch TV, most of the times, in zoom 1 mode. i watch my movies too in that mode, as i like them in that stretched size (gives a feeling of cinema-screen :))

even then the issue. i remember one or two users (i guess it was blasto) who had told me earlier that IR will be present, but it wont be worrisome. so yes, IR is there, but it fades away very quickly, as if it werent there in the first place. also, the traces of retained images are visible only up-and-close.

National Geographic.....Best way to avoid IR atleast in the intial duration is to watch in zoom mode without the channel logos. Zoom 1 will get you great pic, zoom 2 good pic and zoom 3...i have never been able to watch anyting for more then a few minutes......too much image cropped and deterioration even on HD channels

its been days since am noticing IR on the set. my grandparents are glued to 'aastha' channel when i come back home, and after its switched OFF, i can see the logo of the channel clearly on the screen. moreover, am able to clearly see the traces of menu and GUI of my media player, even if it remains ON for 20-25 mins and then is switched OFF. but all those traces disappear within moments. dont know if this is an issue to worry about.

Is there a way to disable chs with bright logo by any chance? Best would be to watch these chs on an other TV.
Some of these Chs have obnoxious BRIGHT logos and even sometimes they add additional graphics above the logo. And these logos stay there the ENTIRE time the programming is on; only to disappear just before the commercials.
Is it possible to buy a Pixel-Protector DVD in India. It has a snow screen and it works great for IR.
Also refer below thread giving details on how to avoid IR/Plasma burn in issues?

You are talking about TIR.
If I have not said earlier, I say now, "It is here to stay".
Any amount of hours put on the TV will only reduce it. There is not going to be a day when the TV has NO TIR.

The only question is whether it is affecting you from normal viewing distance or hindering the viewing pleasure in any way.
Samsung and Panasonic usually won't until you are an AVID videopile.
LG will.

i could safely say in all my sanity that am 'least bothered with [T]IR', when the TV itself has so much more (good) things about it to keep me hooked :ohyeah:

Hi Seeker,

Did you manage to buy a new pair of glasses from somewhere? If so just share details?
I was wondering if I can pick up something from Malaysia, once I get off shortly.

Hi guys,

Just would like to know if I should update the TV to latest firmware release or wait for the 200 hrs relax break in period to get over?

Hi guys,

How difficult is it to get to the back of the TV once wall mounted?
Can one easily plug/unplug the Ethernet/HDMI connections?
I know its always good to connect all cables before wall mounting, but same not possible now, as I would be getting the net cable extension/HD connection after a few days .
Appreciate you guys input.

hello there !

i have zeroed-in on my preferred pair of glasses. i would've ordered one by now, but then i recalled that the 14th feb bandwagon is yet to start, and why not wait until then....these are the glasses :

http://www.amazon.com/Xpand-X103-Un...RMS6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328345926&sr=8-1

am getting a pair for INR 4.5k from newegg.com, and for cheaper over at amazon. am thinking of clubbing this with some other purchases i need to make at amazon by/on 14th feb.

Keep me posted, Ill buy one for myself. Why wait till 14th Feb?
How are you ordering from Amazon UK?
Shipping, payment etc.

sure. 14th feb because of 'valentine's day'. am hoping that amazon might come up with some offers then. as it is, prices of quite a no. of products on amazon keep fluctuating daily.

am ordering from the same link i provided, ie, from amazon US. am also getting a 'logitech squeezebox touch' from it and some 1-2 puny items, and would club them all together to be shipped to my doorstep directly by amazon, not by some 3rd-party vendor on amazon. that way i save some costs on shipping, etc, compared to what i would've spent had i taken them individually from different portals/sellers.

Even I want two pairs of those amazon glasses. can we pair up to share shipping cost?

hello !

am getting these glasses alongwith 2-3 items, one of them being logitech SBT. but the price of SBT just increased after this last weekend, and am waiting for it to come down again by the coming weekend (or thereafter), and would place order for the whole lot only then. may i know what do you intend to propose ?
