Pioneer sp-fs52 andrew jones designed now in india

Hi mate,

Yesterday, i coupled the Pioneer fs 52 fronts with yamaha rx v375 by using MX 14AWG 6 meter Speaker wire (3 meters for each speaker).

From where did you purchase MX 14AWG, and how much it costed you?

And by the way, thanks for steps above.

Hi mate,

Yesterday, i coupled the Pioneer fs 52 fronts with yamaha rx v375 by using MX 14AWG 6 meter Speaker wire (3 meters for each speaker). and placed the speakers roughly 20cm away from the back wall.

After, all the connections and the speaker placements perfectly checked. I switched ON the receiver and played straight away Hotel California song.

Right out of the box they sounded really good but not great.

Then i quickly changed the some settings in the AVR like

Increased fronts levels from 0 to +6 (max +10)
Increased the treble from 0 to +3(max +6)
Changed speaker configuration from small to large and kept remain subwoofer, surrounds, and center to 'None'
Enhancer: off
speaker distance: 2m (not calibrated, but did this manually)
mode: straight

Now, played the same song (hotel California) again,

The sound was improved a lot.

The drum beat was now deep and the magic between the midrange and tweeter combination was so 'sweet'.

i'm actually enjoyed the song with the great soundstage and separation of instruments in a more 'relaxed' way.

Later, i played some video songs of tamil, telugu and hindi (dts-hd ma). The bass response was very good. Actually, i didn't expect the bass this much. even i decreased the bass to -3.0 (-6 to +6)..

Still, i didn't get ' how the midrange was so good with crystal clear highs' followed by the bass response. And the speakers look very short as well.

I'm 200% satisfied by the sound of fronts alone. what if i add center and surrounds as well and play the songs in 5 channel stereo mode ? :ohyeah:

I felt the highs are little bright and more forward, which i think will settle down after some hours of play.(break-in) ?

If you've just changed the levels of the front in stereo mode, it'd be the equivalent of turning up the volume isn't it? Also, the bass/treble settings in the AVR would not 'improve' the sound quality, it's just meant for tuning the sound to your taste. The changes you are doing are quite drastic (the values I mean). Ideally just play music in Direct mode and adjust the placement of the speakers.

This was 90 dollars on Amazon two weeks back...now its 125 dollars!!! Was about to order when I saw the shocker....at this price..17500 in India for a pair appears reasonable given it comes with India guarantee??

Don't be delusional about guarantee from a non-stockist. For all you know when the time comes for replacement they will say no stock left ... Will take three months to arrive blah blah. And if the price is not favorable it will stretch into a nightmare.

Hi..all please let me know the price in Bangalore for a pair of these floor standers and also its availability..if not will order it from Amazon.com this week.

also please let me know if its worth paying 16K for a pair and asking a colleague to get it from US. If something comparable is available in Bangalore within 25%...rather buy it.

At least on websites this one got great reviews. I have a pair of the BS-22...with this 4 of the 5.1 will be pioneers. Thx

Hi Prasad,
I just bought 5.0, before that i was considering FS 52 pair, i was quoted 19800/-, so IMHO, you should get the almost similar price in banglore too.

Regards

Just wanted to update that these are available in Bangalore at 19K for the pair and might go further down based on your bargaining skills. MRP is 23K. This is available from the 4 pioneer sellers listed on their website.

I bought this from Amazon 10 days back for 127 dollars each and today it went down to 97 dollars. Immediately had a chat with Amazon for a refund and was told that they refund if its within 7 days. After an hour tried my luck again and this time as a one time exception, was told that they will refund back 62 dollars:clapping: Even otherwise I would have returned it back for free and reorder at new price

Now the only tension is whether Emirates will accept it or not, given that my friend is spending 120 dollars on taxi to get this to the airport.. Getting to airport is ok since he has other luggage, but if Emirates refuses to take it, then 120 dollars to take it back home...double whammy for me...no speakers plus excess taxi fare:sad:

Total dimensions per Emirates is 60 inches..and this one is 65 inches..praying to god that people at Newark dont notice the extra 5 inches:licklips:

All the best arnprasad, let emirates have mercy on you. Have been through few close shaves like this and 80% was successful. So you have a good chance my friend

Thanks Ram.my experience has been that in US airports they dont care that much compared to European ones. Also its weight is only 13 kilos vs the allowable 23..so if they do take notice of the size, maybe they will pardon me coz its less heavy and the airlines definitely makes money on the ten kilos saved
