Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

ok, photographic evidence. The little ifi iCAN sitting on my desk under the monitor.

The ODAC feeding it analogue input is now banished to behind-the-scenes invisibility below the monitor shelf. It just needs to be there, not to be touched or looked at!

(You can just see one of my "speaker stands" on the far right of the pic )

You are far too generous in zoom. You could come out a little out of it and expose your system in its entirety.

But... But... it's my latest purchase, and this is the latest-purchase thread!

Here's the iCAN with the ODAC, AT 'phones in rear, leaning against the Dual TT. Audiofire firewire interface just showing to left. Mystery component under the towel ;)

(It's seldom used currently: the towel is there just to keep the dust off)

But only the iCAN is a recent purchase

PS... Spot the difference! The iCAN 'mod'... a couple of O-rings have been added to the volume knob for easier control.

So we have a surgeon here?

Now way! And would you trust a surgeon that kept his scalpel on his desk in front of the monitor?

This scalpel became mine when I was working in publishing, doing layouts in type, and correcting small faults on film that printing plates would be made from. I use it as a general craft knife --- and, also, the blades I buy are non-sterile. But it is so useful that, along with the small torch, a mirror, and a missing-in-the-photo magnifying glass. it is kept there very close at hand. Always easy to find, but also always hard to grab accidentally. That can be painful!

Hi all,

I have purchased Norge 2060 amp with Wharfedale 10.1 BS, I have a sony DVD player. Please give me your valuable comments about my purchase.

Regards

Congrats! Wonderful. Are those, only for photo-session or is that the way you listen to music?
If that is the way you placed to listen to music, i am afraid that is not a proper position. You'll miss what you need to listen.
A reference point here Speaker Placement for Stereo Music Listening from where you can take it forward and place it to listen in a better position.

hello all, Good Morning.

A small pruchase, picked up the Bose AE2w headphones.

For a long time, I was in search for a good bluetooth headphones. I was using the Sennhiser HD218 for quite some time. It was good for the price and I was happy using it for almost 4 yr's and all of a sudden I wanted to get rid for those wires, hence the search for bluetooth headphones started about a couple of months back.

My main usage would be Music listening at work and watching documentaries while travelling in city, and yeah I commute everyday 60km in this pathetic Bangalore traffic. I was driving all these years and now the traffic/road situation has gone to dogs, so decided to use public transport, which would be 2hrs each side. So why waste time, use it to watch documentaries. My source for media would be an iPad.

Since I was going to use the headphones in public transport, I need a noise cancellation type. But I was not comfortable with the effect created by those headphones around my ear, so dropped this feature and decided to look out for a good around the ear type.

I tested Sennheiser MM 500 X and for some reason was not comfortable with the fit of the headphone. But the sound was really good. Also the tested the Sony MDR-1RBT, not comfortable with the fit. Then came Parrot Zik, comfort was good but sound was not as good as the Sennheiser/Sony.
Then went to the Bose store and tested both the AE2 (wired) and AE2w. The AE2w was very light and very comfortable around my ears and also sounded good to my ears. The product finish is also very nice. So I liked the product and without further due picked it up @ Rs 19,013/-. Good packaging for the product. Have been using it for a month now and completely satisfied with the purchase. The only downside to this product is that the bluetooth is not in-built, but a dongle type. In a day I use it continusely for about 5-6 hrs of music listinig @ work and 2 hrs documentary watching and this headphone is super comfortable. No ear fatigue on prolonged usage, no heat generated around the ears. The ear cups sit well well around my ear and it dose insulate some of the outside ambient noise which is good for outdoor usage. A full charge of the bluetooth dongle lasts for about 8-10 hrs. A full re-charging takes approximately 1hr. The dongle can be removed and charged. A wired connection is also provided, just in case we are unable to use the bluetooth dongle. Easy setup/pairing. Just one click to pair. The dongle has volume controls and a all in one button for Pause/Start Next/Previous track + device pairing. The iOS shows the battery status of the headphones in the status bar which is a cool feature. There's no a hard case cover for the headphones, only a cloth cover which does a descent job. Below is the pic of the product sitting on my computer table. Overall a good product.
