Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

Hi Amit, congrats on your purchase.
One question, did you get the AV Rack custom made? I liked the design. Simple.
I would replace the wooden doors with glass one's and keep my AVR/ Media PLayer/ Set top box etc inside it to avoid dust etc.

Hi,

Thanks.

Yes, it is custom made. its really good idea to keep the doors of glass and keep the systems in the glass covered shelf. i missed this option but anyway you can go ahead and enjoy.

Size of the rack is 6 ft X 2.5 ft and approx cost is around 12k.

:O :O :O Did you say 12K? Out of a Boardwood Rack?
I mean this is not Solid Teak/ Rubberwood right? This is the Ply/ MDF Board which they use in the Box Beds?

That can't be that expensive. I last discussed with my carpenter here in Gurgaon with the same design in mind and he quoted around 5K.

I got Onkyo HTS-7300...from USA....
it has:
7.1 speaker system
and AVR

total wattage:1200W

It needs 120V 60HZ
I want to know the power supply transformer available in India. in pune/mumbai etc or online some website which can work reliably with this system.

What all i need in terms of power supply to make it work..
People who have gone through same experience please help me out..
...... thanks a lot...

Buy a Step down Transformer to make ur AVR work.
Search this forum for more information on this....

Cheers
Siva

Yes, teak-ply/MDF board fabrication should'nt be so expensive. If you choose to put a teak (1 mm) facing on it, so that varnish/polish can be resorted to, then it might be slightly more expensive .... but, should not cost beyond 7.5k ...

Also, try doing some cable management. Use longish cables from the power point/extension etc, so that you can 'hide' them neatly .... wall-fixed plastic trays.

when I moved from delhi to mumbai, I got a complete shock. the carpenters charge about 3x that delhi carpenters charge, and the fit and finish is not as good.

d'you also know that if you've not into DIY (ie. you do not have your own drill) they charge you on a per screw basis to put up screws on your wall (last heard it was 20/- per drilled hole). gives screwing the entirely metaphorical meaning, right?

{OT}

This reminds me of the Joke,

Once a desperate man, away from his Wife for long, gave it up and went in search of some "entertainment" and "pleasure".
After a long tiring search in the town for such a place he finally found a door which looked like one. There were beautiful girls, skimpily clad, peeping down from neon lit windows at him. He knocked on the door, and an old lady, smoking a cigarette, gave a disgruntled look while peeping out.

"What dya want" - She asked?
"I wanna get screwed" - said the main.

"Then, slip a 100$ bill from under the door" - She said.
He complied and waited for the doors to open.

10 mins went past and he asked again- "HELLLO?????"

The lady growled again

"WHAT DYA WANT" ?
"I wanna get screwed" - said the man.

The lady replied "AGAIN?"

:lol

Sweetttttttttt setup Shaiju :clapping:...... Make sure the speakers are 8"inch away from rear wall and toe-in the speakers a little .

And what is that towel doing on the rack ?

Thanks...!

Speakers 37K
AVR 56K
Both with bill and warranty.

Have to buy couple of more things...
1) better unit to house AVR, players, STB
2) carpet to do away with make-do door mats
3) vacuum cleaner!

There is an exhibition at Goregaon (E) ending today - hope to pick up something useful.

Thanks Kittu...

Thats' a thick bed wrap. The wooden unit was newly polished and didn't want the Plasma stand to leave marks.

Another pic - me and my friend trying out the new DSLR - Nikon D90. Isn't the PK550 reflective? ^_^ Actually, there is a tube-light in exact opposite direction.

Congrats Shaiju. Can you highlight what made you go for this particular AVR and speakers. It can help others decide too.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
