Post your latest AV purchase(s)......

Thanks...!

Speakers 37K
AVR 56K
Both with bill and warranty.

Have to buy couple of more things...
1) better unit to house AVR, players, STB
2) carpet to do away with make-do door mats
3) vacuum cleaner!

There is an exhibition at Goregaon (E) ending today - hope to pick up something useful.

Congratulations.

Could you please share your experiences in selecting 2311 over 1911.
And from where you have purchased ? Price of 1911?
The point is that I am looking for Denon 1911 from Mumbai.

Thanks,

vjc

Thanks Kittu...

Thats' a thick bed wrap. The wooden unit was newly polished and didn't want the Plasma stand to leave marks.

Another pic - me and my friend trying out the new DSLR - Nikon D90. Isn't the PK550 reflective? ^_^ Actually, there is a tube-light in exact opposite direction.

What's with the speakers!! The left speaker two drivers are white and the right one has only one white driver. What's the mystery??:rolleyes:

Congrats on your purchases!!

Congrats Shaiju.

Welcome to the Paradigm club.

BTW, I suppose you guys are joking, the white driver is standard in the monitor series. To me it looks so ugly, that I have to keep my grills on. Its made of a different material and hence the white colour

Sud98,

Do you have 2 on one side and 1 on the other ?

Hey Vivek. I noticed that while uploading the pics and called kittu. The back sticker says Paradigm 7 v.6, so not sure why the two drivers in white. I expected it to look similar to the other tower.

I'll call the dealer to solve the mystery ;)

The speakers look PHENOMENAL ..... !
Should be sounding that great too.

Yes... they sound great and look really cool. There are others that look better but for me this one suffices the bling factor.

Kittu said the Paradigms 7s were slim and I couldn't agree more. The KEF Q500 looked marvellous too. ProFX ran out of demo stock before I could give them a listen.

I auditioned the 7s, liked it, picked it up. The 9s were more powerful and available at a tempting price but figured out they were huge for my room.

Hey Shaiju, haven't you blocked the AVR ventilation by placing the DVD/BD players on top? It must be getting heated up. It can damage the AVR. Leave the top of AVR open and don't stack anything on top.

Reju,

Ya, agree with you. AVR does run hot but only a bit. I do not use it for extended periods; as of now only demos for friends and FM in morning.

A new TV unit should be ready in couple of weeks. Yesterday I saw some amazing sesame wooden units made in Jodhpur at Goregaon exhibition. They did not have a size for my room and will take 3 months to tailor make it. My local furniturewalla has agreed to do it in 2 weeks.

Hi Shaiju,
Congrats on your purchase. Awesome set there mate.
And yes, such equipment needs to be housed in quality furniture.

could you please share the designs for the sesame wooden units you are talking about? I need to get one made for myself too.

For the time being, Put four matchboxes (or if you can get something like this in wood, with 2 inches height) in all corners, on the top of your AVR and then keep BD Player on it. So, that heat can come out of the AVR.

Thanks yaar.

How do you keep you Tannoy and Onkyo free from dust? Is it okay to use the fine brush that comes with Bandrige flatscreen cleaner on the drivers?

Do not use any liquid cleaners on drivers, just use a microfiber fabric and gently wipe off the dust.

Thanks yaar.

I have filled the grill gap(side) with cotton,so dust cant enter from sides. The speaker grills are thick(you cant see actual driver through)& I never open it unless needed. So it is practically dust free.
Kittu has advised the rest.

Thanks yaar.

Dust collection in my house (1st floor) is too much and too quick!

I clean my speaker drivers once a week with soft fine brush and the exterior cabinet on alternate days with a soft lightly moist cloth.

For AVR I have covered the entire top and side openings with a back chart paper so that no dust can penerate. I have cut a 3" dia opening on top and placed a powerful Evercool Fox fan 3 ::EVERCOOL Thermal Co., Ltd. :: to suck out the warm air. So AVR does not get heated up. I have connected the fan in such a way that whenever AVR is on, the fan has to switch on.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
