YOSH!!!!.. Got my self ... a Yamaha RX-A2000 +Klipsch RF-82s
and It Kicks....derriere !!!!
With all the anger to HifiVision !!
Purchased 2 new items from Amazon.de . A friend will be bringing them from Frankfurt this weekend.
1. Toshiba BDX3200KE 3D Blu-ray Disc player (Euro 105 with free shipping) - Will make it Region Free by firmware upgrade (Thanks to the dedicated thread on Hifivision)
2. Sony BDX-S600U External 6x Blu-ray Burner (Euro 115 with free shipping) - Bought it for future use. It's been very hard to find an external Bluray burner in India at some decent price.
Also, I ordered lots of BluRay discs as well from Amazon.co.uk...Most of them are my favourite movies. I will update the list with pictures in the appropriate thread as soon as I receive them.
(Already got the BluRay Disc of "The Good The Bad & The Ugly" from Flipkart in Rs. 699 and I'm very excited to inaugurate Toshiba BD player with this favourite movie.)
Now the savings start for a Good AV Receiver (Probably Denon 1913). Target Date - October/November 2012...Will try my best to avoid "LokPal" bill type delay !!
As per earlier reviews, Toshiba 3200 plays NTFS ...but not sure about ISO files.congrats! Can this toshiba play ISO? NTFS?
Thanks Andycongrats technobhatt on the purchase!
any update? have you made it region free for bd/ dvd?As per earlier reviews, Toshiba 3200 plays NTFS ...but not sure about ISO files.
Will check all features this weekend when I receive the player.
Thanks Andy
Hi anm,
I got the Toshiba player from friend Tuesday night only. Couldn't get much time to play with this in these 48 hours, but few things I tested.
1. Plugged in Seagate 1 TB GoFlex external drive in the USB plug of Toshiba BD player, which is NTFS format HDD. And it worked great for 99% of the BluRay rips I have in my HDD. It played 99% of .avi, .mp4 and .mkv files. (most of them were .mkv 1080p rips). I found it really great and convenient way to play movies, because it was so easy to switch the in-bulit Audio Codecs and Subtitles of all the .mkv files. Picture quality looked much better (earlier I was using my laptop to play all these .mkv files using XBMC player).
And I was glad to see that Aspect ratio of 2.35:1 was coming perfect using this method. ( I feel XBMC shows broader black-bars for widescreen ratio despite having 1:1 default settings)
However, it couldn't play few .mkv rips (like all the Alfred Hitchcock 720p/1080p rips). It threw the error message "Unsupported file type". For few files, Video was not supported and audio was playing fine. I'm not sure but it could be due to the bad encoding method applied for those movies...just guessing)
Don't have any .iso files so far. hence I couldn't check whether the player plays them or not. I'll try to check it by making any existing DVD's iso files.
2. I downloaded the executable Region Free software and successfully made the player as "Region Free".
Currently I have got few Region B/Region Free BluRay discs from Amazon.co.uk and all these discs work great.
I'll also try to play a strict region A/C BluRay disc and post the results. All of my DVDs are currently being enjoyed by a friend, so I'll bring them back and test all those Indian DVDs.
-- I'll post the test results for .ISO and Region A or C discs after this weekend; as I'm out this weekend.
--I had purchased a BluRay burner as well, but my friend forgot it in his Hotel room. He got lot of MC-BC for this silly mistake, but I am lucky as another colleague stays in same Hotel room for 2 more weeks and he will be able to bring it by July 14th.
Oh great congrats on your purchase. I have the same player with me made it region free. The only downside I have seen so far is that it does not support DTS-HDMA movie file and it downgrades to normal 5.1 and my yamaha receiver shows it as PCM 5.1 channel otherwise it is one of the best/cheapest blu-ray player in the market.
Thanks
Thanks Maniraj ! I had read your similar comment on not supporting DTS-HDMA by this player and I kept this in mind all the time before playing it.
Infact, this was the first thing I checked in BluRay player. I played few BDs like 'Inception', 'Band of Brothers', 'The Good The Bad The Ugly' with DTS-HD-Master Audio.
My Onkyo HTX-22HDX receiver was able to detect DTS-HDMA perfectly and it was not downgrading it to DTS-Core.
Hence, my observation is...Toshiba 3200 BD player does support DTS-HDMA in its original format.
I assume this could be some sort setting or handshake issue between your Toshiba player and Yamaha receiver.
As your Yamaha receiver displays 'PCM 5.1 channel', I suppose you should change your BD player's audio settings as "HDMI--> BitStream". You might have kept current settings as 'HDMI-->PCM" ... Just check and let us know.
