I purchased Yamaha 298 in Navi Mumbai @ 30 K. Yamaha person is coming tomorrow to give me a demo. I will touch base on my findings.

on close comparison of 3400 and 3500 models on onkyo india website, I found that :
3500 doesn't mention audyssey feature which 3400 has.

May be present owners of 3400 can comment how useful this feature is?

is it same as violet HT has? which understand your environment and then adjust your reciever that what should be deliver by each speakers for complete experience of surround sound?

Does it really improve sound quality and surround sound effect in room? as violet HT does?

Finalizing on a HTiB. Went to Onkyo showroom in Alwarpet today. Extremely good response and service. I have to decide now between the HT-4505 and the HT-5500.

The HT-4505 is being quoted @ 38k whereas the HT-5500 is 58k. I think for price of HT-5500 I can get a good amp with speakers of my choice and a decent active sub. So I am leaning very much towards the HT-4505. I know the disadvantages of a HTiB but I am NOT an audiophile.

Are these prices good or should I bargain further? Any other models from other brands that I need to try out before deciding?

buy others later.
get a denon 1612 or a onkyo model at 25k.......and get a pair of 12k bookshelves wharfe 9 or sonodyne sonus......
much better and solid than a 38k htib.

for HT-4505, you are better off with HTiB from Philips or Sony. Do take the demo of these from brand showrooms before you deice. Not a great fan Onkyo in the lower segment.

I am keen on a HTiB at the moment till my new house is constructed. Most probably will be keeping the receiver alone and chucking the speakers that come with it.

The Onkyo HT-S8409 is available at 469$ in the States. I know people there who can purchase it for me but the weight is 107 pounds. Fedex quotes 1000$ for shipping it to India and adding customs duty it all goes to thrice or twice the value of the HT itself. I don't think such a heavy system can be brought via airplane by a relative or friend.

Is there any way one can get it to India?

You will get much better systems from here and there is no need to import such htibs from the US at such price.

Bought Samsung 51' plasma PS51E490, its hd ready set, considering my viewing distance, content I would play AND the price for which I got it, this set made absolute sense. I would be using my HiMedia HD600B media player for HD and 3d playback(if at all). 2 3D glasses are bundled with the set.

Till last week they had 50 DVD pack free as Diwali offer, so I did not get the DVD pack. The full HD smart TV Samsung plasma PS51E550 had a BD Player free . My contact in Samsung might still get me the DVD pack.

MRP store price was 58000/-, got it for 44250/-.
PS51E550 was for 78000, could have got for 58500, but the money I saved will be used for still slimmer PS3 or HT.

Whats the word on the Lg BH7220 htib? I find it one cracker of a system on the spec sheet for the money. I don't really care about the watts they claim as long as there is some clarity delivered. Whats good is hdmi inputs, a 2 way speaker system and HD Audio Decoding. Can anyone comment on the performance of this system. I heard Onkyo HT-S3500 and it was rubbish. I don't know what there is to this system for anyone to even consider it. Cheaper Htibs sound better that this budget Onkyo.

Looking for buying out a home theater system with budget of 20k to 25 k. looked for sony initially for models like DAV-DZ640K or bdv-e290 but not impressed with reviews of same on some of website and as recommended by friends. Can u guys help me in suggesting about these two products or any other suggestion from other brands available in India.

Go for Onkyo 3400 at around 24000/-. Best value for money product.
You can also consider Denon 1312xp if you want an active subwoofer. The price will be 30k.

Forget sony, lg.....
