Hi all

Bought a dell 19" E1909W LCD monitor for Rs 6700 from Sp road last weekend.

Also got pricing for few other parts -

1 TB hdd Seagate for Rs 4400

500GB HDD Seagate for Rs 2600

the 500GB seagate now comes with two varieties - 16mb cache and 32mb cache. I did know hence got suckered in buying the 16mb version for the price of a 32mb. ALways pick the 7200.12 series not an earlier 7200.9 for example as the .12 comes with a single platter high density medium that fixes the shortcomings of the earlier series. Its their fastest in the budget series to date.

Cheers

Hi All,

First post: I've been lurking on this forum for many months reading and learning a lot more about AV than I thought I ever would! That said, I have been watching with dismay the price rise on the Panasonic PV8 (still the group fave?) as newer models come in from Panasonic.

Today I read about a site called govasool.com (the website says it is active in Bangalore) and the guys running it seem to promise that they can assemble dealers into a buyers marketplace to bid to supply an item - and flat panel televisions including the PV8 were listed on it. The premise is that the greater the number of buyers, the larger the discounts a seller / set of sellers will provide.

From what I see on the site, it seems that it does not have enough buyers / sellers assembled on it yet, but it may be a useful venue for people to form a group interested in buying the product (essentially I guess I'm suggesting we outsource what MadBullRam and others were kindly doing for the rest of the folks here :ohyeah:). Once a group for a product is created, we could post here and let others know and they could in turn join that group. What do you all think?

PS: I am not in any way connected with govasool - all I would like is to get a great bargain on a PV8 - soon! :ohyeah:

Thanks!
Girish

Pana LX800 - 39k - can further bargain for about 1k - Price from a Pany brand shop in Pune.

Anyone knows of any better bargain?

First, Get the MRP of the it. Then, when u go to purchase dealer will final price from his Quatation. Ask him the DealerPrice (DP) of the product.

In General, DP will be 10% less than MRP. If , you can bargain hard, You can avail upto 10% discount on DP.

Among, organized retail chains, I have observed that e-zone has most of the times lowest price.

But, If u want to avail max discount, go to purchase from a relatively smaller local shop. If someone has started the shop recently the better. This guys will give you the max discount.

Don't worry about service. In anycase manufacturer company will be handling the service part, not the dealer.

THIS, I am telling you from personal experience. When I bought my 4 series 32", MRP was 44,000; DP was 40,000; I got ot for 36K from a startup dealer.

Happy Hunting.

Yogesh.

BY MRP you mean printed price????
Please ...
In Electroncs & IT Printed MRP is a JOKE - generally prices are lower ,far lower
SO 10% Discount of dealer is not logical - you will be a "good customer" for ealer ( giving him profit"

About E zone - That may be true in rajkot - but in mumbai minimum pricing is NOT MONOPOLY of any shop!

You need to research hard and bargain hard!!
For my LCD I found kohinoor offering LOWEST price - where I visted Vijay Sales, Croma,Sumaria,E Zone ,Next ,Hypercity, Arcee , Snehanjali & Rahul & Many small shops...( Multiple branches as realised in different branches prices are diffent)

But I cannot claim Kohinoor is lowest as in other models other shops gave lower prices..

But my wisdom for mumbai
1) Vijay sales is not lowest - but many times is
2) E -zone - never lowest
3) Next - Old inventory ,lousy staff ,bad pricing

AND LAEST IN MUMBAI I NEVER SAW SMALL ,SINGLE BRANCH SHOPS OFFERING LOWER PRICE .. IN FACT OVER LAST 10 YEARS A LOT OF SMALL SHOPS CLOSED DOWN...THEY CANNOT MATCH BULK PURCHASING AND BARGAINIG POWER OF LARGE FORMAT STORES AND VIJAY SALES. That is why I did not buy LCD from my favorite dealer "Rahul" in goregaon ..though he has 4 shops ,his unbargained price was 10-12 K more than kohinoor!!

So right information is only shortcut to save money ----and many times obtaing information is painful!!:ohyeah::ohyeah:

It is right, In Electroncs & IT Printed MRP is a JOKE. But, I was talking specifically about LCD TVs. Iwas not talkin of 10% on MRP. "In General, DP will be 10% less than MRP. If , you can bargain hard, You can avail upto 10% discount on DP." This was the best discount I was able to get in Guj.(Ahmedabad,Surat,Baroda,Rajkot everywhere).

About E zone - That may be true in rajkot - but in mumbai minimum pricing is NOT MONOPOLY of any shop!

Yes, It is true. But, In gujarat there are limited organized retailes. Croma,E-Zone,Vijas Sales(3 Baranch in Guj) I found e-zone cheapest among I visited.

Yes, Ur reasoning will be true for Mumbai. Elsewhere, might be dif case.

It is truth indeed. Nothing of it's worth in life is ever painless.

Interesting to know that prices in different branches of the large chains also differ! I always that they'd offer the same prices in various branch in every state. Across state is a different story because of octroi, etc.

Taking hemantwaghe's advice, I'd now focus on Vijay Sales, Kohinoor and Croma for low pricing.

What is your location?
Anyway on the way if you find som small shops- no harm to visit!
Also I excluded super specialitys stores like Lacozy, Alliance 4, A2V etc for LCD ,any member expereinces?

Anyway I saw a disply od Full HD Panasonc Palsma ,65 Inch @ lacozy recently at good price - note -it is a display without TV tuner and speakers - hardly an issue if u r using AV amp & Set Box!

Another thing is Sony is pretty strict about pricing,at least it was and pricing is more n less constant...

The prices differ as sales guys & stores has volume n value targets and many organisation have different methods of calculating profit - more than profit on perticular SKU they play with turnover , calculate profit/sq feet and acive better profit per month -it is puarly a volume game now...

I stay in Mumbai at Vikhroli and am looking to get myself a 42" display in the next few months. Ideally I'd prefer to have the LG PQ70 or Panasonic PV80 if any of them are available at a good price - closer to the 40K mark. I know that prices may not drop that much, but that's what I am at least hoping for.

Check out Vijay Sales at Dadar opposite Siddhivinayak, and the one at Tip Top Plaza Thane; both will be equidistant for you. They have some good offers going on Sundays. I found Croma guys less interested in pestering to complete the sale, in a way that's good since one gets to browse more without interference. Also prices at Croma for some items are not exactly discounted is what I felt, Vijay Sales will give you a comparatively better pricing. The sales guys at both chains, however will have almost equal level (read "negligible") of knowledge of technology. So do your own research on products before going there.

One of the dealers ( from Mumbai - Atlas Radio near Metro) at compareindia.com is offering Pana TX-37LZ80 for 47000/- (MRP 64000/-). This is full HD 37"model... Pana brand shop offers the same model for 58-59000/- for cash purchase... The dealer says this is a brand new piece with regular manufacturer's one year warranty. He is able to offer this price because of the pricing package that he is getting from Pana.Anything suspicious here?

Ask Atlas to get sealed piece and open in front of you and check it

Now Atlas may be right - as Brand shops are ALWAYS expensive IMHO --- also may times it is like a showcase and with salaried staff - so they are less concerned with SALES PUSH,TURNOVER AND VOLUMES!

Also in industry a deler receives a lot of incentives like Volume discount, Turnover discount ,promotion on perticular model etc...some smart dealers get maximum of this and reduce prices .....( goregaons Rahul was very famous for this ...but in LCD's I found his prices are not attarctive 6 monts back!)

Also in my opinion some Old timers may offer aggressive prices as their shops are bought out looong back and they need not factor in Rent componant!!! Now compare 0 rent on interest on purchase to obscene rent paid in malls or premium location!!( I worked in Onida so this is with expereince I am writing!)

Guys, what are the best deals on the following models?

*42" Samsung B430
*42" LG PQ70
*42" Panasonic PV8D
