Guys i need some price details on the 42" LG,samsung,Panasonic models. I am looking at buying one soon, any help will be highly appreciated.I checked out the bajaj electronic showroom sometime back in panjagutta. Not sure the prices are reasonable. Any one has bought any 40/42" LCD models recently?Pls share the price details if so.
thanks

Could some one share some price and performance info on any 40,42" LCD TVs? I am looking for one now,so that i can zero in on one and go for it.
Thanks

I am from Mumbai. A very infrequent TV watcher. Not using DTH at the moment, just my neighbourhood cablewala who has promised to switch to digital soon. Using a 21" LG CRT TV.
I want to go in for a 32" LCD now. My viewing distance will be 6 to 10' and I am not particular that it should be the best PQ in side-by-side comparisons. I visited Vijay Sales and in a side-by-side I only found Videocon inferior but all other brands on display (Sony, Samsung, LG, Sharp and Panasonic) were acceptable. Even Videocon would be acceptable if it was senn by itself in my living room.
Please suggest which 32" is best VFM for my simple need. The reason I want to avoid Videocon is because of previous bad experience with the brand. For me good reliability at lowest price would be a consideration. Where would I get a good deal in Mumbai? I was considering the Panasonic 32LE8 which looked good at Vijay Sales but when I saw one at Croma next to a VU it looked terrible. I wonder if Croma were deliberately sabotaging it to boost sales of the VU which they seem to be promoting.
Should I seriously consider scaling down to 26" for my viewing distance if a better 26" will be more advisable than a cheaper 32"?

No response yet?
I visited another outlet of Vijay Sales yesterday and the Videocon looked fine too. There was a Toshiba 32" that was priced quite low but the picture had some ghosting. All other TVs looked good enough. Any reports about the reliability of Videocon's current offerings in 32" LCD TV?

sorry abt tht daddycool tht nobody responded but you would be better off going for a Samsung model for reliability as well as quality of service is concerned.Panasonic also would be fine they are priced very well.

With Toshiba service is a an issue as few ppl have pointed out in this forum previously.

Please stay away from Videocon, Panasonic, Sammy and Sony all 3 are good options that you can go for.

Ideally if you do the calculation -
The magic number is 2.5 factor.
Take the screen size multiply by 2.5 and that will be your optimal viewing distance. 2.5 x 32 = 80 inches / 12 inches = 6.6 ft.

2.5 is for 720p tv's. Use 1.5 for 1080p tv's.

A lot will also depend the type of content you are viewing.

Well if you are viewing distance is beyond 6 feet, go for 32' its a better option, these days prices have come down so u should be able to get it anywhere between 25 to 32 k

Please go through the below threads it will help you in making the right decision -

Hi all,
I purchased a panasonic 42 Plasma PV8 from Vijay Sales one week back - the list pirce was 40K and i got a cash discount of 2K.
So final price : 38K.
Good deal or what !

As for the TV.. I had been reading up all the discussion in this forum and the PV8 lives up to its reputation. I am enjoying every bit of it.

38 K for the PV8 is a pretty good deal man.. considering that it was going for 46 K about 2 months back at Vijay Sales.

Congrats on your purchase. It would be good if you can list your other equipment you have paired your PV8 with.
