Have you guys seen the Ads for TVs in todays TOI ? The VU company has put out an 55" LED for 99K !
Whatever it lacks in connectivity, for sheer price vs size,this is a game changer ! Prices from the "Big four" will have to head south now.

Actually have been visiting this site from past few days , and getting to know the user feedback on few lcd tv's. Finally agreed upon going for Samsung 40LAc630..
Display price: 64,990/-@ chroma (Bangalore) , was given first offer for 57890 (BEst price it seems claimed by dealer @ chroma) then called up few other shops around bangalore , finnally this one shop caught my ears ringing , he quoted 56k(with 2gm silver coin) final offer , came back to CHroma and said him if he can match it , finally after lots of hearing bargaining and telling stories got the LCD for 56k:clapping:,
with airtel HD DTH under no exchange of any tv what so ever..
finally brought the lcd @ chroma as it was close to my place than the other place ....
btw got to know 49000 for 40c530 (samsung) @ bangalore chroma
Special thanks to the website and users @ Hifivision for giving me an idea of the present market price and how much to expect .... Cheers

@Monk: Where did u get the price quote of 56K(with 2gm silver coin) offer for 40C630. Perhaps i can get good deal on 40C650 at the same place ? In Bangalore, where can i get the best deal for Plasma PS50C550 (for a friend) and 40C650 (for myself) ?

so Indian prices are not bad. In fact Amazon prices are higher.

@Kittu : I have been thinking about the panel lottery problem in 40C650, Does Plasma PS50C550 has any such problems? Can i go for the plasma model in case i am interested in the getting larger size (50") compared to smaller size (40") of 40C650 for just 5k or 6k more ? Or if my mom insists on LCD instead of plasma (due to power consumption difference), how can i ensure i get a SPVA panel in 40C650 ?
I am not sure about the SPVA stuff("adder" is best person) but if you have a well lit room plasma wont do good . Go for LCD .... If you have a bit of dark room with no reflection or huge windows you can go for plasma... 50" looks bigger and better when you are watching a movie / sports are playing games... Yes plasmas consume lil more power and get hotter compare to the LCDS...Not really sure I noticed major change in my power bill last 2 months ... :yahoo:

Best price I received for Samsung UA32C6900 is 51,500 from Jayam electronics Anna nagar. But they dont have in stock. The other shops like Viveks, Giriyas and Shahs were quoting 53,500.
The other TV that caught my attention was LG LE4600, but none of them had it in stock. The quote I received from Shahs was around 42000.
Do you guys think these are good prices? Should I go ahead?

Sha's and Jayam will almost match the compareindia prices. Check there
first and go for it. But at that price go for a 40C650.
For comparison of the two you are looking at post on another thread. Can't reply on the price thread.

Picked up a Sony 32 KLV EX400 yesterday from Croma - R City Mall (Ghatkopar, Mumbai).
Paid 35.4k for it under exchange with an old Philips 21" CRT. Marked price was 37.9k at all stores, including the Sony brand shops. No one was budging from that mark.
2.5k for the old CRT was decent I thought... and I picked up a Sony headphone free, as part of their Diwali offer.
Was getting a Samsung c530 for about 2k less, but somehow the Sony appealed more.
Should get delivery tomorrow
