Czech soul/funk/pop group. Formed in 1966 in Ostrava, led by Richard Koval?k until his death in 1975.
During this first period the groups lineup was essentially identical to the nucleus of the Ostravsk Rozhlasov Orchestr, and many recordings performed by the latter could have been actually credited to Flamingo.19751977 led by bass player Ji? Urbnek. Disbanded in 1989 after keyboardist and 3rd leader Vladimr Figars death.
Between 19731987, due to communist censorship issues, they were mostly credited as Plame?ci (Czech for flamingos),
while serving mainly as backing band for vocalists Marie Rottrov and Petr N?mec.

Michael A. Hanu, an award-winning scriptwriter and editor for the Voice of America. Mr. Hanu and VOA were bestowed the Peabody Award, recognized as the pre-eminent broadcasting prize, for his script about the lunar landing, known as "Eagle on the Moon.
