raspberry pi 2 as media player

Does Gaana, provides, stream url, or playlist?. If no then no you cannot play Gaana radio on Moode. For any radio station to play, the station need to provide the stream URL, which can be added to the application.

Hi Friends,

Kindly help in setting my Android phone as a remote for my openelec OS in Pi. What values should I input?

Regards
Srikar

YOu dont need any manual entries, Yatse should be able to search openELEC available on your network automatically. Just go to manage - > Click on + sign and then click on XBMC/kodi under hosts and it should find openELEC on ur network.

Installed "Minimserver" in my HTPC and Bubblepnp on my android mobile and Raspberrypi with moode as renderer. Earlier I used to access the audio file (in HTPC) directly from moode. Sometimes, I observed buffering (may be issue with my router of router configuration). If for any reason if moode is not able detect the audio file, repeat configuring and updating was taking more time. I could not assign static IP to pi running with moode, this leads to difficult in accessing moode. I hope by using bubblepnp using pi as renderer may solve these issues.

I do the same, have been using moode this way from day one, as a renderer. And all media is on NAS. I suggest all the same.
From mobile I use AirAudio more than bubble, its less cluttered and UI is much simpler, plus it can stream Spotify on UPnP (you need a rooted device).

for static IP,instead of assiging a static IP on Moode use DHCP Reservation in your router settings to reserve IP to Moode. This way it will never change even though you have not specified static IP.

Seems kind of a circuitous route... but hey if it works then great.

But IMHO a PC/HTPC is an overkill for audio and especially MinimServer. Why not get a 2nd Pi?

I personally prefer Pi in server mode and gadgets like CCA as renderers. For video a NAS to renderers like CCV, Roku, etc.

+1 to letting the router do the IP assigning... even static ones. I've setup DHCP for permanent IP addresses for all like Pi, CCA, Roku, etc. Works even better if you are running anything like Samba on the Pi.

It actualy is better, the quality of sound is same, but you can push music from any source via any UPnP player. I dont have to be dependent on Moode web UI to play my songs. I am free to push song from anywhere, my laptop, my mobile, my NAS, my tab, iphone, any web service like subsonic, spotify, gaana, itunes you name it ... infact if anyone else comes to my house, that person also has the full freedom to play any song on his mobile via UPnP or AirPlay (since Moode also supports Airplay) and push it to my speakers .... very very convenient.... and effective ...:)

Thanks RegeHa & Sam. I am planning for music server with 2nd PI. I will try IP reservation in router. Even though my router Dlink DIR 300 and WiFi adapter are 300Mbps, receiving & transmitting @ 1 to 3Mbps only. I DO not understand where it is getting restricted. Somebody can help in this regard.

Must be 3 MBps which is like 24mbps. anyway which is still too low. I would say poor wif adapter? too much interference, too much hindrance ...etc etc lots of reasons ...

How are you testing and how are you copying/moving files?

Did you setup file sharing, Samba?

You need something that monitors network traffic or a simple tool like NetMeter on Windows.

Good ways to test are with WinSCP, setting up network drives and copying and moving from Windows Explorer.

I consistently get 60 mbps (7.5 MB/s) from Pi to PC and around 35-40 mbps between devices connected to the Pi i.e. pen drives, HDDs, etc.

For troubleshooting...
1. Connect the Pi via ethernet and test speeds.
2. Move Pi closer to router... distance will drop speeds when running on WiFi.
3. Use a WiFi analyzer (lots of Android apps) that will point out the best channel to use in your router.
4. The usual suspects like upgrading all the s/w and firmware.

PS: If you are planning to use the Pi as a NAS, don't. Its too slow, only 10/100 ethernet and USB 2.0. However, its excellent for media consumption... even 4K video will stream on it... and its excellent as a low power torrentbox, VPN server, etc. Most folks don't have ISPs of more than 100 mbps anyways.

Can anyone help me on how to do autologin to moode. I dont want to use a monitor or a keyboard to log in.

For the ssh command prompt or to play muisc ?

If to play music you don't need to log in at all so don't need a keyboard or a mouse

You just need to type in the ip address assigned by the router for the raspberry pi in the browser of your mobile or tablet and you are set

Moode is for Audio is not a media player like Kodi. YOu cannot play youtube from Moode. get Kodi or one of its fork. And why would you want to log in to Moode, once installed all configuration is done via web, unless you want to install any raspbian based app, which I highly doubt.
