HI friends
I want TO buy a led tv for my brother( 40 inch or above) my budget is 60k, i have seen Samsung 40 es 6200 in croma price 60 k, should I buy that or I can have something better than that at this price. YOurs suggestions will be very helpfull, thank you

Hi,
Samsung 6 series are very good for 2d but may not be that good in 3d contents due to active 3d. Why don't you take a look at samsung series 5 plasma? You can get a 1080p 51inch plasma almost at the same budget if bargained

Thanks Swarna Surjya and vadlamudijc for your reply I'll surely look at this model but will the picture quality affect with the bigger screen, my cable service provider giving 30 hd channels so most of the time hd will be playing but will the image be sharp and crisp as I got in my 32 inch full hd tv. Kindly reply

For your question...it is needed to know the viewing distance at your place. For a 8ft distance or more and for Full HD content the difference is very hard to feel. A 51inch TV will produce 1.6 times scaled/magnified image compared to 32inch. For the same reason the noise/pixelation in the SD content is also going to be magnified.

It is suggested to maintain at least 8-9ft viewing distance for 51inch. If you go by this prerequisite I hope you are going to get a whole cinematic effect.
Again choose Plasma if you primary requirement is movie or fast moving sport, for rest (daily soaps, news) better stick to LED. LEDs and plasmas have their own pros and cons...hope you know that.

So make your decisions accordingly.

Are you open to plasma? The Samsung 51F4900 (45-50K) or 51F5500 (70-75K) are excellent. They are both 51" and vastly superior to all LED TVs in the 60-70K bracket but will require a slightly dimly lit room to watch especially in day time. The 51F5500 is even 3D.

p/s. Don't think that plasma is old tech - in fact it is better tech. :)

I think the price of 51F4900 will be around 62K ( MRP is 65900 ) which is also 3D, 720p
Samsung has increased all plasma prices and updated in their website.

THanks Swarna Surjya again and just4kix, and just4kix I've seen lots of your replies on the forum and really appreciate the helping attitude you and many friends have here. This tv I want TO buy for my brother and he's not very gadget lover, and though his room is dark but his kids never let light switched off or stay in dim light and watch lot of cartoons and kids channel, so I think led will be good, my main concern is picture quality and size, power consumption can also matter as tv will play for long periods every day, I can spend 5-7 k extra if it worth spending. waiting for reply thanks

None of your concerns are really any serious hindrance to buying a plasma TV. Reason i suggested plasma is obvious but if you are not comfortable then that's ok.

Can you please tell me the difference of power consumption between plasma and led.

I haven't seen any increase of power bill since switching from 21" CRT to 50" plasma. Plasma is supposed to consume at least twice, maybe even thrice, the power than an LED. But all that is really insignificant as a plasma consuming 200W will hardly add 30-35 units per month. The power usage argument is really an insignificant argument.

Thanks just4kix, 51F4900 and 51f550, will they be best option or you Can suggegt some other model also TO look while visiting croma or other store, thanks

Croma will have more LED models. They may have just one or two plasma models, if you are lucky. I suggest that you visit the Samsung brandshop for checking. Do a close review. Don't buy anything because I say so or any one else suggests so.

Jacob,
Go and demo both LED and plasma. Don't get carried away by what we say. Use all of your senses and wisdom to pick the right tv for you. As video enthusiast both J4K and I prefer plasma for its sheer PQ and value for money but it is also true that plasma needs lots of care specially during first 200 hours or break in period just like a baby (as mentioned by J4K in some other post). LED on the other hand is a much safer bet and there are plenty of alternatives to choose from. It is also true that LEDs consume less power and generate no or insignificant heat.
If black levels do not bother you go and pick an LED. A 40 inch Sony W800A may come in your budget.
