Randy was far ahead for his time. We only got a small peek of his talent. Wow, another Zakk Wylde critic besides me :D

Jokes apart, can't stand the guy's stretched pentatonics, as it really gets to you after a while

The only song that I really dig is the miracle man, thats it!

I'm not a fan either.

BTW, who played guitar on Ozzmosis? I love that album. Probably one of the last cassettes I bought.

I also like the guy who played guitar on The Ultimate Sin, especially Shot in the Dark. I hunted down this album on CD after searching for many years. But the quality of recording was really disappointing.

Any fan of Jap heavy metal band Loudness? Try youtubing "So Lonely".

And there's this (new to me) band from Mizoram called boomarang. Their track "Leaving Babylon" is quite something.

I think Jake Lee did The Ultimate Sin and Zakk did Ozzmosis. Both stellar albums if you ask me. Thanks for the tip on Loudness and Boomarang, will look them up first thing tomorrow...

I heard a live acoustic band last weekend in the Irish Village microbrew in Pune. Led by Siddharth Basrur, they call themselves Basrur In The Last Remaining Light. They played about 10 original songs, all acoustic, and also covered Crazy by Gnarles Barkley.

One of the tightest Indian live acts I have heard in a long long time. Super impressed. They also play very unconventional chords, multi-layered harmonics. Powerful lead vocals, very good rhythm guitar (chord selection), and surprisingly good lead guitarist (alternated between guitar and banjo). Decent lyrics to back it all up - but I am not a lyrics person so it didn't matter much to me either way.

You can listen and download some of their songs for free from here. It was really a pity because I wanted to buy their music and support them.

Oh, and they absolutely nailed Crazy.

ZakkWlyde on Ozzmosis
Jake E Lee on Ultimate Sin

As for loudness, glad you found them, been hearing Loudness since my friend bought a metal compilation tape in 1988!

What a fantastic band, with killer lead guitarist Akira Takasaki.

Another band of same era was EZO, who vocalist & drummer later joined Loudness.

Japanese Metal is pretty damn good :)

Latest sensation from Japan
