Right now I am listening to ...

Macho "I am a man"
Electronic, disco classic of 1978

Hi folks,

I am not sure if this is the right thread to ask this or not. I just found out that my son listens to Joan Baez in his computer. I used to enjoy Joan Baez immensely when I was a graduate student (a close friend of mine used to have a few LPs). Suddenly I have the urge to go out and buy a CD of hers if possible right now. Can anybody suggest a good CD or two by Joan Baez so that at least tomorrow morning I can achieve my goal?

am sure youre options will be determined by whats available in store:D. diamonds and rust is a nice album. but your best option i guess will be a best of compilation.

You are right, afj. The store I usually go to had only one CD of Joan Baez, and I bought that immediately. See my post above. One other store told me that they would get a few more in the coming week. If I get hold of some more, I'll post about them.

Good intro to Journey. Not the best selection, but then Journey made a lot of good music so no way all is ever going to be fit on a single album. This is a good mixture. Now if only I could find something similar for Survivor, Styx, etc.

A delightful cross-over album that gives a taste of the opera magic through the voice of arguably the greatest tenor teaming with some of the best known pop voices. The album has definitely piqued my curiosity to delve into the world of opera music, despite not understanding a word of what they sing. Also, this album is another proof to the argument that the greatest of all musical instruments is the human voice.

A disappointment compared to her first 2 albums. No superlative vocal tracks like Nine Million Bicycles or Piece By Piece, but her voice is as magical as ever.

Pure 80s pop/magic. Takes me right back to my childhood. Great album and a must have as Hitensitapara pointed out in another thread. Danke Hiten.

Another recommendation from Hiten and truly the Theme from Shaft just rocks. Even I'm feeling the pinch of not having a high-end system/speakers. I'm sure it will rock on great equipment. Yet to hear the album completely, but the theme alone is worth the price of the CD.

The energy of these guys is amazing. If you're tired of modern hip-hop, rap, funk, and the likes then give these guys a try. They probably defined rap, hip-hop, etc. Hardcore rap music and nothing like what's churned out today. Only Run DMC comes to mind if anyone is to compare with the Wu-Tang Clan...

Had to go for this compilation since the other collection of Chicago's Greatest Hits did not have the track "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" a track I grew up on. Amazing ballad, love song, call it what you want. Another good collection of Chicago's work on this compilation.

Cannot seem to get enough of this album. I guess I'm on a soul spree what with Isaac Hayes - Ultimate Collection. Have also ordered Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes another must have soul album going by reviews.

BTW What's Going On by Marvin Gaye is a masterpiece and a must have album to any collection, all the more if you like soul/funk/easy listening. Do check Marvin Gaye out.

Has anybody heard this amazing group? Very popular when I was a kid. Standout tracks are Keep On Movin' and Back To Life. Played them for hours. This is a greatest hits compilation with both the tracks. Soul music you can dance to.
