Right now I am listening to ...

No Mercy - Greatest Hits : One of my old time favourites. A very well recorded disc and a collection of peppy numbers. [Sony BMG Music Entertainment (Germany) GmbH - Rs 400 (I guess)]

Pink Floyd - The Wall : Purchased yesterday and listened the 2 CD album 3 times back to back! I like the recording quality, the sounds are reproduced needfully, I started to enjoy the recording after second listening and onwards. [Harvest EMI United Kingdom - Rs 645]

The Wall is a superb album. Were you able to listen to the sound of the helicopter, and the sound of children in the school? If you get a chance, see the DVD. It is an experience by itself.

Cheers

There are my (general) listening pleasures.

Mornings - Chanting/Hymns - Centre Channel in duty

Daytime at work - Fusion (Shakti, etc.) or Jazz (Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk) 2 Channel at work

Evenings/Nights - Normal TV (3.1 channels at work mostly) and DVD movies (5.1 channel at work)

My pre-amp and power amp are always busy at work and so is my 2 channel system most of the day at work.

Last Night - watches Night at the Museum as we had family friends over. Pretty good stress on all speakers.

Right now listening to Miles Davis - Kind of Blue CD Remastered.

Re: Right now I am listening to ...The Dark Knight OST

hi friends
TheDarkKnightPoster.jpg

As you all know the music score of Batman begins movie was great and is still used as a benchmark by testers when rating a system.

The sequel to it Batman-The Dark knight had ever better score though the movie is not available on DVD for home viewing as of yet.
I purchased the The Dark Knight OST(Orignal sound track), a music CD.

I thought my wharfedale 9.5s are pretty strong and can take any track thrown at them. But the Dark knight OST blew them away.
I think it is a stereo music. But i heard it in 2 channel and 5.1 also.

The music tests your system rigrously. The track " I am not a hero" has lots of punch and sounds ferocious. It is next best thing to watch a movie live. The sound effects and orchestrisation is great.

If your system can handle this score tightly it is a great system.
Friends, pls bring out tracks/CDs/Albums that are complex and test our systems hard.

regards
hi, the DVD of DARK KNIGHT is out jst saw the movi yday ,had very high expectations, but apart for a few action sequences the movi was a big disappointment had to really struggle to stay awake ,,the background score and and the sound effects are great,,,and it really rocked with my 0nkyo 875 and jamoC809 set up ,,but as a movi a big disapointment.......subhash

Re: Right now I am listening to ...The Dark Knight OST

Hmmm... I personally thought The Dark Knight rocked big time and would say its the best of the decade so far along with the Bourne trilogy.

If you can pick up the double CD of Pulse ..do it... the very packing with the photos of the performance and stage lighting is worth all the money one pays for it

That reminds me ... wifi & I sat & watched the entire Bourne trilogy this weekend ... all 3 of them on the trot ... Jason Bourne, treadstone, blackbriar & Mini Coopers! Had a ball!!

Cheers!

$96 million to a Billion is a long way ... I don't think it'll make it :) Reminds me of the superstar's movies ... kept in the theatre just to cross that 500 day mark :) No offense ... I enjoy his movies too!! Cheers!

Great Yog. Even I do that with my wife (you can say my way of introducing her to these great movies). Of late we have done the Mad Max series, Lethal Weapon series, Lord Of The Rings series, Bourne trilogy, Terminator series, and in fact doing the Predator series now (though the latest 2 are not in the league of the first 2).

Yup, Wanted is a great action movie too. Check out Timur Bekmambetov's Russian movies if you can. His Night Watch (Nochnoy Dozor) was a sensational hit in Russia and brought him into Hollywood's limelight.

Ditto for Gary Moore. A great place to start would be the Ballads & Blues album. Great guitar work.

Just started listening to this album today, getting a nice feel with the slow tempo songs! Somehow, managed to get a full wav version of the original CD :)

Full wav version is good. I really like the guitar work and the slow ballads on this album. A must in any music collection, but that's my personal view...

The Doors - LA Woman - 24 Karat Gold Cut from originals. Remastered superbly by Steve Hoffman. Feels like they are playing in sync in front of me (like a private concert)

Bob Dylan - Blood on tracks. DTS version.

I have unopened versions of the LOTR & Star Wars trilogies lying in the cupboard!! Cant't wait ... :D

Nevermore - The Year of the Voyager

The genre is... well, metal... progressive metal... progressive power metal... whatever  BUT at least very exiting...
A band from the USA... (normally I hate US metal stuff, this band, beside of Dream Theater, makes an exemption). Characteristics: (typical) heavy guitar sound combined with an enormous voice and a brilliant drummer. Cool riffs coming across with well defined beats... entertaining arrangements if you want. Everbody sick of boring Metallica, non-entertaining Tool or old and ever repeating Iron Maiden i.e. should give Nevermore a try.
