I used to listen to this album on my cassette (Polygram?) on my Philips mini hifi system. The songs are good but the recording quality was way too sharp/metallic/noisy(?). I wonder how these songs sound on the CD!

Which label/brand you are listening to?

Swami

Right now I am listening to Alan Parsons - Vulture Culture. Heven't listened full, so no review at this point.

Anyone else wants to comment on this album or any other of Alan's works?

I like all APP. This album has some super tracks too.
Seperate lives, Lets talk about me, days are numbers, sooner or later, the same old sun and if i am not mistaken also the instrumental Hawkeye.

If u like the band hear the album Eye in the sky, Ammonia avenue and a hits collection called 'Hits in the sky".

All APP are good recordings too so thats a bonus.

Hell freezes over -Eagles is superb too and a very popular choice when auditioning systems. The indian copy is not great though. The XRCD of this was super.

I listen to AP in and out. What put me off few years ago was that the recordning companies came up with too much junk.

Ultimate collection
Definitive Collection
Super Hits
Very Best of...

Sounds very much like Rolling Stones world tour (each year).

U are right. New 'Best of" or "greatest Hits" keep coming out and are best ignored. I have all the albums and do listen to some often enough. Hits in the sky is a compilation i had liked and hence own it.

Actually APP has been a favourite of mine for two decades now but i dont remember buying an APP in the longest time.

sarah mclachlan - wintersong

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon [5.1 DTS CD] :D

Swami, after listening to the 5.1 version, if you can explain in some detail what was the extra excitement of the 5.1 version as compared to the stereo one, it will be great. I think just about everyone here would have heard Dark Side of the Moon, and would be familiar with the songs.

What I am attempting here is to introduce all of use to the charm of surround sound for music.

Cheers

I don't believe it came in High Res DVD-A format. I have the 5.1 SACD cut of this and you can hear every instrument around you for songs like time, money, breathe etc. For US and them, you can hear the snare drum beat on the SL so clear beyond the other instruments.

THe guitar and major drum beats are localized to FL/FR. The vocals are C/SL/SR at various times and the extra effects like laughing, crackling on the disk are set to FR and SL pan as well as FL/SR pan.

Its an amazing experience when you sit in the middle and close yoru eyes and listen to the entire CD.

My major gripe about the CD is that it does not have Comfortably numb on it as that songs stresses all speakers and sub with its range of frequency. Very similar to Stairway to Heaven.
