Not getting much time to enjoy music of late, but tonite am just gonna unwind & chill :)

Couple of Bands that I just discovered today due thanks to a friend of mine - really good ones & I can't imagine how quickly I connected to the bands through their songs, guess its that '70s thing thats working as it always does in my case ;)

The original - now I cannot imagine how i used to listen to the version Bananrama did in the '80s  it just plain sucks in comparison to the original.

Hi
My wife's old LP

1. Jeff Beck's Emotion and Commotion
2. Susan Boyle's Someone to Watch Over Me
Incidentally, the above two albums have something in common - both have covers of Jeff Buckley's Lilac Wine. Both very well done, though I like the Jeff Beck one a wee bit more (featuring Imelda May), may be because of the slow guitar twists of Beck like he only can do. I wonder why Clapton, and not Beck, was named Slowhand?

Self correction: I was under the impression that Lilac Wine is a Jeff Buckley composition as his rendition was the first I had ever heard of this song. The actual writer is James Shelton, and apparently, it has been covered by lots of artists, starting 1950! Here's an incomplete list: Second Hand Songs - Recording: Lilac Wine - Barb Jungr (incomplete because it doesn't mention Jeff Beck's cover mentioned in my original post)

Ah, Jeff Beck and JLH for you is it! I am dying to hear Beck's Live at Ronnie Scott on a reasonably high end system, just to experience "A day in the life of" and "Nadia" in all their musical glory! My iPod doesn't do justice to it. Right now it is G3, the first one. At the risk of inviting the wrath of Instrumental Rock fans here, here's a quick & dirty review: great playing, good for a couple of listens. In descending order of musicality - Eric Johnson;Satriani;Vai (ducks to avoid Vai fan assault!) ;)!

What have your discoveries been like? Downloaded Allan Taylor(folky) and Dhaher Youssef (World music!?). Will let you know my ears feel about them!

Shine on.

Waltz for Debbie - Bill Evans Trio

'My Foolish Heart', 'Waltz for Debby', 'My Romance', and 'Some Other Time' are melodies that, in Bill's hands, remain clear and fresh no matter how many times you play them. Synergy gains new meaning with Scott LaFaro (on double bass) & Paul Motian's (on drums) fantastic support.
