Hope to hear more about the TV and calibration etc. I might as well go for this. The size and the review so far is too tempting. The best part is that the place for my installation has no window anywhere near and so no possibility of any direct sunlight. If all goes well may be very soon I may join you.

Don't worry about the light. The filter on the screen is superb plus it has the never seen before insane light output on a plasma. I switched on all lights in my room and no reflections or picture washout.

Ehhhh !! Now you are tempting me like nothing. Feeling like grabbing one now itself. That's too good to be true. Considering that you have seen and experienced a GT50 before, I can take your word for granted. Now only the damages are keeping me away from buying one.

Yes, made in India. May 2013.
Upgraded firmware is 1103.

Like you mentioned, the AVF members too say that after firmware the PQ improved. I could not compare as the quick thing I did was upgrade firmware.

Sorry, if I sound way off here. I had 50GT50 for 3 months. This one is steps ahead of Panasonic's GT50 in PQ and features. I say this with genuine intent and not because I had trouble dealing with them.

Btw, IR is not more than 5 seconds.
I had to reduce cell light to rein in light output. My settings are way off now. Will let the set break in for few hours and play around.

Oh, yes... no DFC. I despised that on 50GT50. On this 64F8500 no trace of it on STB and BR. Hope it stays that way.

Kudos to Samsung. Their engineers have given sweat and blood for this one. Look like Panasonic is caught unawares.

So, if a logo is having retention and if it is followed by a dark scene , will you keep seeing the dark patch of the logo for 5 secs?

It vanishes by itself. Switching to another content will make it go even faster.

I hear no buzz but frankly I just tried putting my ear to the tv only twice. So not much of a test.

Did not witness brightness pop either. I spent close to 2 hours watching Avengers and Prometheus BR.

Life of Pi in 3D was cool.

Observation... BR player is better at converting 2D to 3D.
