Now it become known that the panasonic 42UT30 costs more than 60K, the only other low cost 3D plasma available is Samsung 43D490. It is available with 2 glasses at 43K at letsbuy.com

I was waiting for this full HD 3D for some time. At this price, UT30 is beyond my budget. i am unable to determine whether to go for this samsung or panasonic 42U30, the 2D version. Price of both sets are same.

Therefore to take a final decision, I invite opinions of those members who have actually purchased and using this set, particularly regarding 3D. I was not much impressed by the 3D at shops, mainly because the other 3Ds on display were bigger ones and full HD.
Therefore views of those who are using this set for some time at home is really valuable.

Hmm...

I allready made my full & final decision....
on 30th i am getting this model: 43D490 :)

will let you know....

My friend who bought it is very happy. He do not have a glass and is waiting for it to reach.

He is very happy with the SD and HD quality. The main complaint he has is that it he has to buy a Wireless adaptor for the DLNA.

He is at Kochi. He paid 39500 as Onam Offer(QRS). No free glasses, though. Bismi and Nandilath may have reduced that by another 500Rs; but their attitude was, ... well, you know :-)

I have the samsung B450 plasma currently and it is awesome for 2D.
Samsung seldom downgrades PQ.

I have compared D490 and Panasonic X30 and samsung is a clear winner here. Colour reproduction and reflection in the X30 model is a deal breaker. D490 has great colour reproduction but same amount of reflection.

In this season the lowest offers were by Pittappillil chain. Any future buyers should look there before finalising the purchase.

i have mostly decided on the 43d490. the shop near eagles has a separate cubical just for plasma tv,very controlled light conditions and only dvd player is connected! no dth box connected:sad:.
i just wanted to see some members tv in home lighting conditions!:)

by the way have you finalized your tv??

Yes I saw it there. Wasn't really impressed by that non HD video. I need to take up a pen drive when I go next.

I have not had a chance to look at panasonic yet. Will probably go to LG and re-check their price - they seem to be the most price friendly so far.

well i have read in this forum that lg plasma tvs should be avoided, more susceptible to burn in or IR than Samsung or Panasonic! most preferable is Panasonic > Samsung >Lg! also when i was checking out some lg lcd tvs i was told that lg service is not that good! only one service center for entire goa! I have had some experience with lg service, they dont attend immediately!

Yeah LG service is pretty crappy here... thanks for reminding me - we had problem with washing machine some 2-3 years back
