A strong case against Darwin's natural selection.
The best may not necessarily survive.

Hey, what's the status of the King. Any plans of going for another TV.
Did you get your claim and refund from insurance.
If you still planning to go for a 64" it may be a good time to get your hands on a 8500 while stocks till last. Post that i do not have any hopes for any flagship models coming out.
hahaha wat a fake review .. his face must have become black after buying this pathetic dark rooms wanted tv... loosers deserve pathetic lifes
Available for 1.3L at Sagar electronics Mumbai with one year warrenty.
Can someone from Mumbai confirm?
Hi All,
After months of research I purchased the 64 inches plasma yesterday. I got a great deal, 1.70 L including the sound bar. I have not opted for the sound bar and I got a further discount of 8K, so I ended up paying 1.62 L, the TV will be delivered today. If any one is genuinely interested buying the TV in Hyderabad please get in touch with me and I'll share the contact details of the person who got me this deal.
I would request the owners in this forum to confirm if the usage hours code works (Mute, 7, 3, 7, OK) and of any of you have checked it on your TV!
I have decided to buy a 3 years extended warranty once the TV is installed.
I still have the option of picking up the sound bar by paying 8K. Please advise if it is worth spending.
I also got a 51F5500 for a friend of mine for 65K including the free blue ray player. I think he also got it for a steal !
Thanks to all the members in this forum for their inputs/ feedback on the TV, your inputs have greatly helped me in taking a decision.
Regards.
I just checked out this TV in display today.
The TV was placed on the ground (!!), so that the top end of the TV will reach only your chest position.
From this position the PQ of the set was horrible. Not even close to some of the pictures posted here or the D8000 plasma I have seen in the recent past.
The louver filter seem to be heavily over-done to the level that when you look 'down' at the TV, the effect is like watching a mobile phone with privacy filter screen guard applied. It looked so bad that the nearby 5 series F5500 looked better.
On complaining, the sales person said it is due to the position it is displayed and everything will be ok if the position is raised to normal viewing position.
When they lifted the TV temporarily to normal viewing height, the TV transformed from dull with black shade to bright and impressive but still nowhere near to the brightness of the F9 series LED displayed by the side.
Owners, can you please explain how the filter behaves at home? it seems to virtually block all light coming from the top of the TV. Is it the same treatment to the light coming from floor reflections? If that is the case, you can never view this TV lying down in the floor. That would be a real deal breaker for someone like me.
Please confirm how the TV behaves when viewed from
1) Close - left and right.
2) Bottom lying down from floor.
3) Standing upright position.
Thanks in advance.
It would be right to say the BEST tv's for 2013-2014 in order of pref would be :
Panasonic ZT60
Panasonic VT60
Samsung F8500
In bright ambient conditions the F8500 beats the VT60. So the F8500 is the best tv from Samsung and one of the best plasma's in the market. Just because it is the brightest plasma, it still is not LED. Hence it is unfair to compare the brightness with likes of F9000 or F8000. But it can be as bright as some LEDs, not all LEDs.
The link below explains what you may have observed.
Samsung F8500 (plasma) review - FlatpanelsHD
"However, Samsung F8500 has very limited vertical viewing angles; not only from the top but also from the bottom. This is the case because Samsung has implemented an anti-reflective filter that screens light coming from the ceiling; and now also the floor. It reduces reflections and it helps to maintain color intensity in brightly lit viewing environments but it also means that you have to sit pretty much at level with the TV. If you stand up, the picture will become darker and if you lie down on the floor the top of the picture will again - appear darker. It is not a big issue but it rules out some use cases such as children sitting on the floor close to the TV."
This is exactly what I saw today.

The review does not show the problem in correct intensity. Only Samsung could think of this as a solution rather than a problem.
Panasonic plasmas are mostly irrelevant because they are not available in India.
My VT20 is going strong btw.
