Samsung 64F8500 Plasma Discussion Thread

I booked it today. Delivery is next Wednesday.
Showroom is Bajaj electronics Panjakutta, Hyderabad. Arguiable the biggest showroom in Hyderabad.
I tried to being down the price to 1.62L but the sales manager said that anything below 1.68L is not possible and did not budge when I tried to leave.

Can you please post the contact number of the store/manager and his name

An interesting thread on another forum about a guy's demo, dilemma, buying and ownership experience of BOTH ZT60 and F8500 Tvs.

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1498298/my-dilemma-panasonic-zt-vs-samsung-f8500

Pretty interesting to read in leisure. Trust your eyes as they say.

its a feather in Samsungs cap to be compared to the ZT60. Samsung has come a long way in making plasma tv's. I don't generally like Samsung but full marks to them for launching the F8500, in the same league of the big players like ZT60 and VT60. I would say in a brighter room, the F8500 would even beat the ZT60 / VT60.

update on calibration.............am trying different settings from various sites available online.

plasmatvbuyingguide - not that great
cnet - looks washed out, details concealed, the worst
flatpanelHD - ok

all above have been calibrated in movie mode with warm2. Last night I switched to standard with warm 2 and OMG the tv just came to life. I played BARAKA and the result was jaw dropping. The tv had never looked so good with razor sharp detail. My goal is to get similar results if not better in MOVIE mode.

Has anyone tried any settings that really takes viewing to another level?

Any news on 64H5000 model release in India. Supposedly no frills large screen plasma with excellent picture quality. Retailing in US at 85k

H5000 is F8500 minus brightness and 3D and smart features.
It has the same filter for the front glass for better bright room viewing. First time ever in a 5 series.
I would assume it will be costlier in India as the F5500 51" itself was 75k mrp.
But if it does release for 85k in India, it will be a runaway success. Samsung need not release any other TV in the price range.
It has only 64" screen scize and no smaller sizes. So anyone with smaller rooms have limited options.

BTW my TV was delivered yesterday night.
Spanking new March 2014 manufactured TV direct from factory. :D

The Panasonic 50VT20 looks really puny in comparison.

I have the sales manager number and reference. If anyone is looking, please let me know and I will PM.
I will ask for out station delivery possibility and post here.

1.68L with 0% EMI and 25 lucky draw coupons.

I have an offer for 1.7 for this TV in Pune : this is for 2 sets. If anyone else is interested please contact me asap - but no later than tomorrow morning. Delivery is promised within 10 days.

What I would request current owners to kindly inform:

1. Is the "Heat" from the TV an issue ?
2. What about "Fan noise" -would this be a disturbance in a slightly smaller room?
3. Has anyone got a Swivel/ tilting wall mount for this set ? If so brand/ cost

Thanks in advance for any help on the queries.

.... er, about what ?! I have sent him a PM. I now need to find a buyer for my 47" LG pronto. Just hope Namo does not reduce taxes on TVs etc and make us feel idiotic for jumping in even as he is making waves.

Hi, 1.7L is an excellent price. MAy we know which store? What were the prices you were getting at other stores?

i, 1.7L is an excellent price. MAy we know which store?

This price was because we are booking 2 pieces, can PM you the name if required. The prices quoted ranged from 1.90 -at Samsung Shop Opp Yerawada Jail to Huns MG Road at 1.98.

Reliance, Vijay Sales and Croma could not even get a response from Samsung- they just said no stocks and "new series is coming" - I do know a senior manager personally at VS-this has me a bit worried as if they treat large dealers with such contempt - what about small customers?!

Good to be back in the forums, was travelling a lot and hence could not login for many weeks. The TV is excellent and I am loving it.

1. Heat- Not an issue at all.
2. No fan noice
3. The stand mount is a better option is space is not a constraint, it looks gorgeous.

Cheers, Ravi

Hi,

You got it for a good deal. I got for 1.62 L as I did not opt for the sound bar. The offer is given by Samsung directly during Diwali.

If anyone is keen buying the TV, please get in touch with Mr. Vinod, Sales Manager at the Hitech City/ Madhapur branch. He gives the best deals and you can refer my name.

Cheers, Ravi

Thanks to Blasto for providing the details on the deal.

Current Users : Whats the best mode/settings for this TV?
Not planning to do any breaking in.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
