@manzb I am planning to get F&D T780W soundbar for my tv. But confused as how to connect the tv to that particular soundbar ?

Since tv only has digital optical out for audio out connection & I can't seem to find this soundbar to have digital optical input. It only has HDMI IN connection. Our tv has HDMI ARC function but then confused how to use it. I have contacted D2H STB to tv via HDMI 1 port & the second port is labeled as HDMI ARC one. Do I need to connect via that port ?


Anyone has any idea regarding this ?

There's an ARC HDMI port (3rd HDMI port) in your TV which can be used to connect it.

@manzb- Yup, read a bit about HDMI ARC & figured that out. Or I can connect the Videocon D2H STB to that Fenda Sounbar via HDMI & then connect the HDMI out on the soundbar to the tv. But this way only STB sound will come through that soundbar.

If I connect via HDMI ARC port on the tv to the soundbar, then every sound source connecting to the tv will come through the soundbar. I hope Samsung has set it like that way to route all sound source connected to tv to soundbar via HDMI ARC port.

I read its upto the indivisual manufacturer to implement HDMI ARC feature in their products..

Booked it today at the last moment. I had almost cancelled it as I thought it maybe a overkill, but then something told me to go for it.
Booked it for 68K. Waiting for the package to arrive in a day or two.

Congrats , PUSH & AWESTRIKER !!.. Welcome to the F5500 club. The price you got is fabulous considering that price of the set has gone up and in addition you got a free one more year of warranty.

Awestriker, I think it is a really wise decision. This TV will not fail in providing you with the wholesome entertainment. Suggest to get good full HD content whether Bluray disc or Rips, it will just blow you over.

I think you are right. Hence use the ARC HDMI channel, so that all that connects to TV, can be heard thru the Sound system.

I'm bummed with the only option of optical audio out... I was so frustrated that my existing altec Lansing speakers could not be connected.. To get a proper audio system with optical in is very difficult in the low budget rates.. I went in and bought a pioneer rs 33..set me back by a whopping 37k.. But it was worth the money I guess.. This big a tv needs that big a sound..

Good to learn that you are preferring F5500 over S60, despite the hassle of exchanging a recent buy. Hope the damage is not much. Anyway welcome to the club.:clapping:

I guess most of you guys are using some kind of DTH service. If yes, then try connecting analogue audio out, I mean composite audio out on the DTH STB to the external speakers. Ofcourse this setup is only for if you guys are fine with stereo audio out

I have tried it with my Videocon D2H STB model no. 2222 with usb recording functionality. I have connected it to my pc sound card and it works fine with audio coming out of pc speakers.

Haven't yet received the F&D T780W soundbar. Will post a lengthy review of that unit once I get my hands on it

the picture on the s60 is too noisy...the image is not clean like the samsung 5500....

Along with F&D T780W soundbar (9k), Jbl Cinema SB 100 (7k) seems to be the best solution ( Soundbar category) for samsung 51F5500 Plasma.
While F&D T780W has HDMI .. JBL Cinema SB 100 has the required Optical Digital connection!

But better we should wait for @Yogi7272 to review F&D T780W soundbar
