Samsung Plasma 51F5500 Owners Thread /Reviews/Discussions!!

Along with F&D T780W soundbar (9k), Jbl Cinema SB 100 (7k) seems to be the best solution ( Soundbar category) for samsung 51F5500 Plasma.
While F&D T780W has HDMI .. JBL Cinema SB 100 has the required Optical Digital connection!

But better we should wait for @Yogi7272 to review F&D T780W soundbar

I agree. As of now F&D is the only sub 10 K option with HDMI inputs. If he okays the product I also may switch.

I have used only few smart features. Notably Youtube. Others are yet to be tried. Too cumbersome, considering I have a basic 3G dongle based wi-fi connection which gives around 2 MBPS which is not ideal for Smart features as it buffers a lot. May be a 4 MBPS or higher (actual speed as detected by speedtest) can help to enjoy the Samrt features. Anyway I am mostly into movies, hence so far using the BDP and USB extensively.

i have an 8mbps aiterl connection..its pretty decent..but i still keep wondering..i could have used the youtube app on the bdp itself...trying to get the hang of the remote though... i nowadays use my mobile to pair it with the tv and search the video on the youtube app in android and play it on the tv...its a superw easy job than searching using the remote..

but other than that...is there a xbmc kinda app?? which will make a database of all my movies when i connect my hard drive and collect info.. just asking... :D

I think there are tools available in the net which allows you to collect the info automatically. But the issue is that most of the time, the movie being named in your HDD is different from the official name as mostly you add lot of other things to identify like BDrip, 2012, Xvid, Dual Audio, etc

True that.. I'm trying to sort out that confusion... Slowly downloading my favorite dvdrips to bluray... Or bdrips.. I have a collection of about 6tb.. Its a painful process :-(

Actually nothing is free. If you buy the original content you have to pay by way of money. If you download, you need to pay by way of bandwidth, time, Computer & storages, electricity, and last but not the least "YOUR precious TIME". So weigh the benefits before jumping into the bandwagon of downloading, thinking that you don't need to pay. Just add the value of all that I have listed, and you'll know that actually downloads are not free. Anyway, choice is yours.

Agreed Kix. In fact, you just keep going back to the download details, whether it is going on smoothly, speed, etc.. Download failures (for non-torrents) is also very common. Apart from that you are unsure about the outcome, whether it will be good enough, have the required sound output, etc. No extra materials available in Rips.

Only good thing about Rips is that once downloaded, you can just browse through multiple movies if it is connected to the TV, whereas in case of a Media Disc (DVD or BD), you need to browse & change it manually.

i did have a dvd collection..i had about 1200 movies back then..but now i have around 200 or 300 left..the frustrating part about collecting disc is if someone wants to borrow..i have to give the disc and pray god it comes back..and even worse...comes back in proper condition..i was too particular about the dvd covers and stuff... but somehow i had to oblige to all my friends and family (brother in law :D) and ended up losing the jewel pieces of my collection..i cant even scream at them..and cant deny them...collecting softcopies helped me give it to them and keep a backup for myself.. and it comes at a premium too..but i think i can selectively choose what to download..yes it is still uncertain whether the print is good or not...and download related errors..but..i have made my peace with it..and more importantly i can stream content from the home desktop into the comp thro LAN.. so im happy..:clapping::clapping:

I perfectly understand. The one advantage of blu-ray discs is that not many borrow them - most don't have blu-ray players.

FULL HD 3D through USB (sbs) is more than just fantastic in Samsung 51F5500. Don't think I need BluRay in the near time. Only thing is make sure you get the best 3D sbs content!
All those who say 3D feature is not important .. should take a look at Samsung Plasma 51F5500.

I can easily say that even after initial charm of 3D will drop .. I will be watching one 3D movie every weekend for sure.
Absolutely stunning experiance !!

3D is really awesome in 5500. But frankly speaking, I am surprised that you liked it so much, considering it is bothersome to wear the specs. I have a good collection of 3D movies. Despite that in last 2 months I just watched 2 movies. Imax- Deep Sea and Tintin. I have few like Amazing Spiderman, MIB-III, Prometheus, Hugo etc, which are yet to be seen. In fact recently I saw Prometheus in 2D only. May be I am yet to adapt to the 3D viewing.

If you have liked SBS movies so much then just imagine what a 3D player can get you. The images of SBS is half resolution, whereas original BDs give full resolution. Just try it.

Sound quality of the bar is pretty satisfactory. Way way better than any tv speakers builtin. Will provide more feedback as I use it more :)

If you guys have any problem viewing the pictures then let me know. Its been long time I have posted any pictures on forums.

Any one knows if the regular remote control works with this tv.. I'm tired of the smart remote.. And if there is a lag between the video and audio in a brrip can i adjust it somehow in the tv itself? I know I can adjust it if I use the optical out.. But when hdmi is used?

Please try once on Samsung Plasma too. Many of us want to know if HDMI ARC does the job or not. Only if it is possible to move the set-up now.

Regular remote will surely work. I am using Tata Sky HD's Universal remote and it is working fine. Even my Samsung Galaxy mobile is doing a fine job as a remote.

@vishal2032 - I have tried the HDMI ARC stuff with this soundbar and it looks like it doesn't support it. Or I am doing something wrong with the connections part

BTW, I have connected the soundbar directly to the DTH STB via Composite audio connection.

I have tried HDMI in/out thing with the DTH STB and it works. I mean connecting the HDMI out on the STB to the soundbar and then the HDMI out connection on the soundbar to the TV.

As far as HDMI ARC goes, pls suggest me how to set it up ?

:yahoo: Finally got my PS51F5500 after a week of wait. Costed 73400 with 1 extra pair of 3d glasses free.

Just starting to set it up. I have a Z5500 so planing to hook SPDIF to that and PC via analog 6ch.

Anyone tried PC gaming on this TV?
I hear slight buzz when the TV is running guess it's ok.

I just moved into this new house so pardon me for the mess.
