Samsung Plasma 51F5500 Owners Thread /Reviews/Discussions!!

@ Manzb:

Where did you buy yours from?
I am keen to buy a higher model than 51F5500 but seems like there isnt one besides the 65F8500.

I got mine from Samy store at Vashi.

The only higher model from Samy is 51F8500 (not yet released in India). You can also look at the Pana 50ST60, which is also getting very good reviews, but chances of getting one is really tough, but you can give it a try. if you are OK with the size, then why not go for 64F8500, now available with 3 years warranty, 4 glasses for around 1.8lacs plus? It's great TV, I can recommend any day.

No Sir. 1.8L is really a lot .. I watch 10 hours of TV a week :-) no wifey and kids. Looking to put down 1Lacs

I've been very impressed with the Sony W900 and W950. Might consider them ..

you can also try panasonic 50s60 if you are not interested in 3d...it is available for 75k and offers very good picture rendition...

Just in case if owners of PS51F5500 do not know this - There is a synced switch off option for universal remote control funtion. The STB also switches off when you switch off the tv. I find it quite cool :)

Also we should discuss about the best soundbar from VFM angle for our tv now.

I was looking towards 1. JBL SB100 for 7.6k

2. F&D 780W for 9.5k

3. LG DVD HOME THEATER SYSTEM NB3520A - mrp is 20k, no idea about it actual price though.

IF any other worthy options are there then guys pls add to this. Will be handy to all the owners here :)

With allshare cast share option you can mirror the display of your samsung android device on the tv. And with an app called samsung smart view from google play store, you can watch the content the tv is displaying currently on your phone screen via wifi sharing :clapping:

Wonderful two way mirroring between phone & tv :yahoo:

Yes I want to.

I detest 3D and rarely watch any programming (soaps, reality shows, etc etc). I will not use any smart function either. PQ is what I am after ..

Why would you want to watch content from your 80K top-of-the-line HDTV on your phone ??

For Samsung 3D glasses SSG-4100GB, coin cell battery CR2032 also works ? Or only CR2025 works ?

CR2025 = Diameter: 20 mm. Thickness: 2.5 mm. Capacity: 160 MAh
CR2032 = Diameter: 20 mm. Thickness: 3.2 mm. Capacity: 220 MAh

If CR2032 can work, it can give many extra hours of 3D viewing.

If anyone knows about this please share the information.

Correction - 65k mid range plasma on a 38k top of the line galaxy note 2 :p

Sometimes you are in other room and want to check out what is being watched on tv :)

:)

Which Plasma do you have? How do you like it? Thinking between a Panny 50ST50/Sammy F5500 or Sony W9 series LED.

Common dude, isn't it obvious :rolleyes: Samsung PS51F5500. Also recently a friend picked up PS64F8500 for 1.8lakhs. After exp these two plasmas, I would recommend to go for Plasma panel only :) Samsung F5500 is an excellent tv for its price. Get it

Duhh me. I think I had a brain freeze and forgot your model.

And there in lies the dilema. I am ok to spend a little more than for F5500 and cant dream about 65F8500 .. :(

TBH the F5500 seems a great TV but over time, I am worried about its petulance for brightness/ambient light. Hence was attracted towards the 51F8500 or ST50 models.

Has anyone compared 51F5500 with Panny50UT50(last year model).I think this year Panasonic does not have a model which directly competes with 51F5500 in feature/price. 50S60 is priced higher slightly with less features other than the pen.I got similar quote for 51F5500 with Panny50UT50 and am a bit confused.I am not much interested in 3D and smart TV features.

dithering noise is a huge problem in panasonic plasmas.....the image is clear but not clean.....i have a 50s60 and i find extreme dithering noise in this tv....so if you want clean and clear images try the samsng ps51f5500

Yesterday, I setup my wifi connections using a 3G based wifi router (there is no ADSL based broadband connection in my area as of now). The set-up was a breeze. Connected quickly. Lots of appas helped using the smart features specially browsed for few clips of youtube. There is APP name "Bolly & Beyond" which has few hindi movies. Tries to play it, it started playing (need no subscription??) but there was some buffering happening around 30/40 seconds after about every 5 mins. May be the broadband connection to be blamed as it is showing justr over 2 mbps peak download for the same as speedtest. Anyway, happy with the prospect, though not going to use too frequently, but still good to have feature and easy to use as well.
