That's a very convenient style of listening to music. I am, however, very particular about what's playing.

home headphone setup. moved to a bedroom. Glad I didn't sell the CDP.

Lyrita preamp - works as tube dac + tube pre + tube headphone amp.
NAD C542 cdp - connected via optical to Lyrita for now. till I get a small length of good IC.
HD 650 - headphones - lyrita drives them beautifully, with layers of bass.
Nuforce nudac 2 (IIRC the model number) - use it mainly to connect my PC - usb in, coax out to lyrita.

The speakers are 8 feet apart and I sit 6 and a half feet away forming an equilateral triangle. Used thick curtains on both sides to reduce sound reflections. But I'm looking for a new dac + amp in the region of 40k total.

Yes, you are right that is the best placement option in limited space. But current position is bit safer for 5 year old kid.
