Showcase Your Turntable

Hi guys
Managed to sneak a Vintage DD fully auto JVC TT at a reasonable price.JVC QL-Y5F JVC QL-Y5F Owners Manual, Service Manual, Schematics, Free Download | Vinyl Engine
Came with a Shure Cart with an Indian stylus.Have ordered a JICO stylus. Real listening shall happen when it arrives. Anyway, first impression is not bad at all. Motor is rock steady and the electro - dynamic tonearm damping seems to work (sound seems smoother with the damping on) .
Sound quality- Cleaner (especially the base), fuller and slightly warmer than my entry level Technics P Mount Belt drive.
The downside-most of the controls are electric/electronic.Keeping my fingers crossed for that regarding any future maintenance.
Cheers
Himadri

This seems like a very good model from JVC. What would be great would be if you can post some pictures of the turntable.

Enjoy your vinyls !!

Will surely post the pics shortly. Damn, the unit is almost as big as my Denon amp and my rack just about manages to accomodate it.
Cheers

JVC made some great tables. I have a QL-7 and I just love it. However, recently I had some speed issues with it, but managed to get it fixed. Although, it's not running as perfectly as it did before, it's in great working condition. It was a huge step up over the other DD tables I had. I put a Denon DL-110 HOMC on it, and it really shines!

Hi Himadri,
Congrats for your JVC.You have got a very nice JVC DD TT.Don't worry regarding maintenance direct drives TTs are easy to maintain.

Regards,
Sachin

Hi tek
Glad to find another JVC user (to tell the truth I was a bit skeptical about the brand initially with Technics DDs being widely used and respected but sellers are asking for the sky for technics nowadays).Well , a denon Denon DL-110 HOMC will surely be the icing on the cake. Its in the radar in the future but I shall decide as I get used to the TT and when funds permit.May be the vinyl gurus can advice me on compliance and other issues later as I go along.(My denon integrated can handle both MC and MM.)
Cheers

To completely digress : have been going through this thread for the last couple of hours and am completely mesmerised by the range of turn tables and associated components and the passion for analogue by the contributors here.

I plan to be in Bangalore on 26th March for a couple of days and will greatly appreciate if I can visit a couple of forum members to listen to their rig.

I will be bringing a couple of LPs to audition at The Listening Room during my time in Bangalore.

Thank you.

Thorens TD160mk1, SME3009 series 2 arm, Doug Olsen plinth. Acoustic Fidelity wiring. AT120E cartridge to get things started.

Damn shme the new Cambridge Audio 640P phono pre i picked up an hour or so ago is kaput out of the box. I took off the cover on it and probed around to find the positive rail missing. No input to the 7818 regulator. I am having to sit here just looking at this beautiful table tonight.

Will go get a replacement phono tomorrow.. sigh.
