Hi,

It is a brand new cart and needs to break-in. At the moment the highs are bit sharp and I read in many reviews that this cart needs a good amount of break-in time. As I do not listen vinyls very often (because i do not have many), it will take a long time...Still I like it better than the stock OM5E.

Venu

Very nice !!
What cartridge are you using ? The Leben phono I suppose cannot take low output carts.

Venu ji, 2M Red is a good choice. Even bad LPs sound reasonably good with this cart and the tracking is super silent. Just wait for the breakin.

Hey hrtk, I actually have my setup posted here. Scroll down for pics of the speaker:
http://www.hifivision.com/my-audio-video-setup/2339-pure-2-channel-stereo-setup.html

The speakers are single driver Alnico magnet hemp cone based from a company called Omega Speakers. It's called the Super 8.

Thanks! I'm mainly an analogue listener. The digital setup is just for convenience really. Vinyl is definitely my main listening medium for critical listening.

Shaizada, that is some system. Those paper cone drivers oozes naturalness. BTW, why didnt you go with a ZYX cart after you heard them at your friend's place ? Didnt you find them outstanding ?

Hi,
Om series is better than 2m,Ortofon had to relaunch OM-10 cartridge due to good demand.

Thanks!! Those speakers actually use a hemp cone which sounds completely different from paper cones. Just different tonality.

ZYX are very nice cartridges, but after listening to the Clearaudio Accurate, even the ZYX Omega 4D didn't float my boat (which I heard recently). Currently, I'm running the Clearaudio Accurate, Shelter 90x, Ortofon Kontrapunkt B, Koetsu Black and a Shure M97xe (on second turntable).

I should probably post some pics of my new secondary table which I just put together....a Micro Seiki BL-21, Graham Robin Tonearm, Shure M97xe into the DIY CNC Phonostage (thanks Sachu888).

I have not heard the OM series yet.

Hi Dr.
I only read reviews and recently ordered OM-10 from needledoctor. Its very high compliance and best suited on my low mass Micro Seiki arm.I will post my listening impressions after receiving it.Om-10 can be upgraded with 20-30-40 series styli.

Sachin

Oh, so isnt it a paper based cone at all?

I liked the ZYX 4D more than any other ZYX carts. Even though the Omega 4D is more expensive, probably for classic rock the 4D has more oomph. However my exposure with Clearaudio cartridges is very limited. If you can do short write up comparing Clearaudio and Zyx cartridges it will be very educating.

I may be wrong, but you perhaps listened to Super OM-30 cart at Asit's place.

Regards

oh yes, you are right. However it was too brief a session to judge. One thing though, this TT + cart combo was also super silent.

Hi Shaizada,
I like Rosewood plinth of Micro Seiki.

Most Micro Seiki TTs look amazing, except their top of the line RX-8000 :ohyeah:

Nope, it's hemp cone base.

I really wouldn't be able to do a direct comparison as I don't have the ZYX in house any more. From memory, the Accurate just had more of everything in my setup.

Hi Sachin,
How much for the OM10? Is it the Super OM 10 or plain OM 10? I have been eyeing the Super OM30 or OM40 but they are pricey. I thought it is better off to invest in a Denon DL 103R.

BTW, I ordered the stylus for my Shure V15 Type III from Ed Saunders. Much cheaper than the Jico but apparently better per some reports. Made exactly as per OEM specs with diamonds from Switzerland. Performance meets, or nearly, meets the OEM specs on most parameters. I also asked him about Super OM cart and he promised to get back.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
