Sony EX720-3D TV

Question about clouding - I normally can't detect clouding on my 720 until it switches into 3d mode and there is momentarily a dark screen when it is VERY cloudy... Is this normal?

That's because 3D mode uses high backlight level.

Update on 3D

Hi friends
I have been away from the forum for sometime. I am back now with an update. I did not purchase 3D glass along with the tv as it was costing 6500/- at that time. Now I have the new 3d glass from sony. It is BR-250 and is chargeable from the USB slot from the TV
Pros
1. It is costing 3500/- now(even the older model also)
2. Charging is easy. Cable is supplied
3. Works with your specs also.
Cons
1. A bit bulky. Causes some strain to the eyes initially. But I think i got used to it.
Now on to 3D
1. 3D effect is very good. Till now I have seen anaglyph 3D on my tv with red/blue glasses. and it was not that good. With this glasses pictures come out of the screen like in the movies.
2. Picture quality is good. It depends on the material though.
3. My media player Asus O! play mini plays the 3D files. Initially it shows as side by side (SBS) picture. When you enable the 3D in the TV, and switch on the glasses, you get the 3D picture.
4. Lot of SBS 3D content is available on the net. The LG demo is good for starters. The bit showing IMAX 3D DEEP SEA is excellent. You can touch the fish!. I am searching for more.
5. The simulated 3D is not good. I can see some depth but picture looks bad.
6. Some cross talk is there in SBS 3D.
I will be glad to clarify any doubts.

the 3d on the ex720 looks like when you put 3d depth adjustment on full.Too much crosstalk on normal bluray 3d,constant double images.But good 2d performance all the same.No 3dtv has decent 2d-3d conversion.the so-called x-reality engine is even on the cx520 series,bravia eng 3 was only on premium (W5 up) sony tvs.I really liked the look of the ex720,but i replaced it after a week.

Hi guys. I want use this TV (the 32") as a PC monitor, and as a TV for my bedroom. Do you know if it is good for this purpose. I already asked in a forum here in my country but nobody knew (here is the EX 757).

PS: I watched Alice with J Deep on this TV and did not notice the crosstalk people talked about (only 15 min)... Is that really bad/annoying?

No cross talk is not annoying. But you can see it if you look very close. Nowadays it is becoming difficult for me to notice it. Guess i don't look for it now. One of my friends has already using it for bedroom;the 32" one. He is happy.

Hi..my friend todya got the EX720 and also Onkyo 509 with pure acoustics speakers. he did not buy the 3D enabled Blu ray player.

Is there anyway he can use his laptop which has a HDMI out to play 3D content on his TV just to demo it to family and friends?

please let us know what other ways (Free/cheap ways) exist to play 3D on his TV till he gets Videocon DTH or a 3D blu ray player or a Media player HD. Thx

^^Try changing the sound to 2 channel in the airtel STB... It might help.

You do get 2 latest set of glasses (2011 model) with a Sony 40" 3D TV, until the end of October only - as part of their Diwali offer.
With 32", there are no glasses included.

Any news from sony about any kind of update which will reduces the cross talk issue...is the ct is also worse in the case of frame paked 3d....coz I havnt tried it yet tried only sbs content yet...and step is one of the best luking sbs movie on this set......

Go to sound setting....
turn on s-force surrounds on..

Advance volume enhancer-on and put it to max frm,5

Auto volume off....

Hey guys movies are watchable but playing games from ps3.....is like hell....crysis 2 looks like crap..in.3d....and plz dnt say anyword bout killzone....i sold my xbox 360 2 watch a framed paked 3d movies and to play games with less crosstalk......but now I regrates coz ps3 is full of motion lags...not even 50% smooth as xbox.....sony suks....

I have a strange problem with my 40EX720 TV while playing blue ray discs with the sony BD player. The picture kind of moves very fast in a jumping frames kind of a way instead of smooth transitions from one frame to another. What should be done to correct this, I am sure its got to do with some setting on the TV or the BD player. Had connected the same to Pana V20D before and never faced this issue.

I have ripped a AVATAR 3D bluray movie to mp4 format and saved it on USB. The movie plays fine from my EX720 but dont see any 3D effect ....
I just want to conifrm if 3D option is available on USB Movie playback on SONY EX720?

If u hav any ripped movie downloaded from net then just play it on vlc player....and select 3d from tv accirding to file if u see two side by side images then select side by side mode...or vice versa.....believe me u will get as kool 3d effect wchich u get from a bd player....i view 3d movies on vlc......my my best flick is step up amd rio....now downloading bluray bundle.....of 60 gb.....
try this and enjoy.......
