Sony EX720-3D TV

Congrats GOVI.

I will suggest go for Tata Sky HD instead of Airtel. & Before that check Videocon 3D option also.

TY @ rajrs. Airtel is a free bundled offer with the Sony TV. I would choose a HD after 3 months. Thanks for the suggestion.

"I am not seeing any clouding. I checked it in darkness connected to my PC which was set to black background with maximum backlight and with environment settings OFF. The screen becomes bright gray at this setting, however is uniform throughout."
Good for you. I will not encourage you to check it further though. Can you give some settings for the TV? I used the settings mentioned in CNET, But the Tvs standard and vivid looked much better!

Got my 32EX720 from S'pore. Also got 2 Sony 3D glasses free with it. Quite happy with PQ. Still playing with settings to improvise. I selected the vivid setting and then tweaked that setting. Very good PQ. With Sound Enhancer on the sound also shows an improvement as compared to the 'Off' setting. No clouding perceived. Haven't tried the 3D so far because I don't have any 3D content as of now. All my movies that I play through my Seagate HD media player look much better than the CRT TV I used before.

One drawback as far as viewing the digital pictures though is that unless the file names are in the standard Sony format, you will not have a slide-show. I had to manually click the next button on the remote to go through the picture set. I didn't mind this because it gives me as much time as I wish for a picture. Because there are pictures one wishes to see for a longer duration and there are pictures you wish to simply pass.

tkrishnan has mentioned other relevant points so no need to go through them.

If anyone would share the settings, that'd be welcome.

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed post. I was experiencing my new EX720 and could not find time here.

@Prankey - I got it for 74000.
I am not seeing any clouding. I checked it in darkness connected to my PC which was set to black background with maximum backlight and with environment settings OFF. The screen becomes bright gray at this setting, however is uniform throughout.

I havent yet got my airtel HD connection. I am watching with cable connection. picture is crisp and clear for most of the cable tv channels. I played some DVD movies, they are so good. Yet to see any HD/Bluray. I am waiting for it.

Govi, I appreciate the revert. Glad to know that this TV is not affected by clouding effect which was there is the 2 Samsung ones I bought last year. Enjoy your purchase.. Hope Sony adds support for NTFS and 3D through USB so I could look to buy it avoiding the Samsungs.

Congrats.
I have tried 3D settings on normal channels e.g. Star Gold HD. (verical & horizontal ) or somthing similar. It changed the picture. But i dont have 3D glasses hence cant comment on 3D Quality. But U can try with glasses & inform us as early as possible. So that i can think of buying 3D glasses.

I am using standard settings only. I tried some settings and not satisfied with suggestions of some of the sites. I finally reset my TV to factory settings and switched to "standard". Will wait until i get a HD connection for further tweaking.

You are most welcome.

Sony may want to sell their BDPs & PS3s too , and so they may not want to add 3D through USB. :-(

Hi congrats on your tv. I also want to buy Sony EX720 40 inch soon. Can you post some pictures of the tv. Thanks. Enjoy your tv. Tc.

Sony Bravia KDL-55EX723
Says.. "it offers accurate colours and a HD picture that comes very close to perfection. But it's much more average in 3D, with very strong crosstalk meaning it loses a star."

What about SD content and 3D?
Need info at least SD content

How do you try out the 3D settings on normal channels? For the 3D effect you need to have a source that was shot in 3D. That's my understanding.

Got a price of
88K for 46" ex720 and
138K for 55" ex720.
is it a good price to buy right now or shall i wait for some more price reductions

Yes, My understanding is same but ,............

While normal channel is running go to 3D option, & check by changing 2,3 options available. Picture will be changed, double images will be appeared (Horizontal or vertical) . I am not able to find out 3D effect as dont have glasses. Pls check with glasses & inform.

May be that blurry images will become normal with 3D glasses, but without any 3D effect.

hi,could you guys,please clear my doubt,of whether SONY EX720 has 2D to 3D convertor.please reply:o

Thats a funny way of trying ;) You need to try 2D to 3D conversion instead, otherwise even through 3D glasses you would get distorted image.. Vertical and Horizontal are 2 different ways of Side by Side 3D..

Does it support 3D through USB and NTFS now?

Does it support 3D through USB and NTFS now?

From what i know it now support WMV/A.

It also supports 3D in USB and IPTV but i believe its only meant for NX and HX range .

the firmware also slighty improves performance and stabilty of IPTV(all internet related )features.

No mention about NTFS support for tvs based on X-reality.
People in this forum already have tested HDD with NTFS on 2011 BE3 based tvs and they work, but not on X-reality based tvs.

Rajesh - can you please check if you could use NTFS volumes thru USB and see if 3D option is available on USB Movie playback? Also, can you try playing an mkv with DD5.1/DTS and see if these bitstreams are passed through ARC or Optical output?
