I am looking for a sound card with coaxial out under 2k for my PC. I would have bought Asus Xonar DG but the only problem is it has an optical out whereas I only have one digital coaxial in left in my avr . I also want to avoid buying an optical to coaxial converter, as it would cost me an additional 1.5 k.

Please help me out!

if your motherboard has an internal SPDIF header you can use this....

I see 4 outs in this card, but none of them seem like a coaxial out. Will I have to use some sort of a connector for a coaxial out?

It may need a converter.Specifications say that it has spdf out(may be shared as in xonar DX).

So, even if I buy the Xonar DG, I can attach this connector for a coaxial out? If that is the case, then I'll go buy the DG first thing tomorrow....

One question, why would one buy a priced Xonar DG if the analog out is not going to be used bypassing the DAC advantage of Xonar cards?

I will be using the digital out while gaming in 5.1 or watching a movie in 5.1. While playing music, i would be using the analog out....

for gaming and movies if you intend using the digital out why can you not use the mobo's on board sound? different softwares can use different sound devices.

Because, my mother board does not have an spdif header, and I want surround sound while watching movies. So, in order to complete my HTPC, I am buying this sound card....
