Hi

I have been using some unknown Model of Sub from "Paramount Pictures" that my friend gifted me while I bought Wharfedale Obsidian HT. Its 200 Watt with crossover and volume knob.

Have tried out many Movies but I have never heard an impressive LFEs anyday .. Bullets, Bombs, Dives, Water waves ...nothing hits!

Have played a lot with crossover, levels and bass settings but nothing worked to impress.

Finally I am planning to buy a new Sub, I have been suggested Wharfedale Powercube PC12+ or Diamon SW150.

Suggestions invited for Wharfedale or any other :)

before getting my jamo D6 i used wharfedale diamond SW250.it sounds nice, but i was not satisfied with movies because of large room, for music,it is very musical.
finally i got jamo D6 15" sealed sub, which fits nicely for both movies and music.

Hi Ankit,

what is ur room size. you should go for 10 or 12 or 15 inches based on the room size. and yes, whats the budget... actually theres lots to choose from Polk, Wharfdale, Astonia all offer good subs.

Hey Ankit,

I have heard WF SW150 at a freinds place, and i really appreciate its performance for music/movies both. The room size was 12*15 and it was played with denon 1911.
you can also consider Velodyne impact-10 in almost same budget.

thanks

Room size is 14 X 16, budget I am preferring anything below 25-27K with a view that even if I change my FS in future I may keep Sub

increase little and get velofyne.
i think it will be within 30k....
otherwise there are 15k plus minus subs...all good.
astonia,wharfedale,roar,polk etc

I shall certainly contact Velodyne India Distributor, any specific Model recommended?

Check with audiopeople , they have some sunfire subwoofers on sale . Even profx have some Polk micropro on sale.

An option is to go for velodyne impact 10 from htstore.in. You will spend 25k or even less. It has got a superb cost to performance ratio. I have it and I vouch for it

Getting Velodyne 12 @ Rs. 27000 including Shipping charges ex Bangalore

Deal?

This forum is awesome!
At a place like Udaipur we do not have any Hifi stores to audition anything and we just have to rely on reviews/forums.

Have shortlisted
Velodyne 12 @ Rs. 27000
Wharfedale PC 12+ @ Rs. 23500

and so far I got more recommendation for Velodyne

Any other deal cracker?

Dear Ankit please consider Wharfedale DIAMOND SW-150 @ 27,000 from hifimart.com
Wharfedale DIAMOND SW-150

Its a great sub. I heard this at one of my friends house.

Here is a review > Wharfedale Diamond SW150 review from the experts at whathifi.com

It has advanced subwoofer processing / filter system. All subs use an advanced microprocessor controlled analogue low-pass filter section for sonic performance with a low noise floor. It is possible to switch all filters off if used in a high quality AV system.

Asked Hifimart to recommend between Warfy's SW150, PC 12+ and SPC 10 and I got suggestion for PC12+

At the same time I am wandering if I have done a proper setting for my existing Sub

I know there is no standard formula but here is what I have set to based on what I could make out by listening and also reading on forums

On Denon AVR 2113
Speakers : All set to small
Subwoofer Mode (though it may not matter) : LFE
LPF for LFE : 120 Hz
Level : -11 db (set by Audessey setup )
Crossover : 80 Hz

On Subwoofer
Volume : 40%
Crossover : 120

I hear all boom boom sound in Movies, best of Music leaves no impact in terms of roaring bass.
