Sub Woofer suggestion please

Thanks VSG for your inputs. Hope your SVS is providing good service to you ... great to hear. How much did you pay for this beast and what is your room size and speaker setup.

Thanks Manoj. Not sure who are the dealers of Rhytmik Audio in India. Audition is always a problem when it comes to international brands.

There are few at this forum who own that sub in India. I believe Flash owns one. You can ask him and hear his impressions.

I understand. so the vibration could be becos of body of sub if no damping material is placed. that could be one good reason. But I dont know if the sub already has this material in it or I should now add the damping material? which it has to be added, which material and where do we get that?

to the point of sub placement, it is in the corner of the room and i have put a thick mattress on it now to stop the vibrations from going on to the floor. Since the room is not treated for sound, there are still vibrations in the room and some rattle sound.

FYI, my is a JBL PSW 1000 sub this is front ported. Picture of sub here:

Need help here.

Nice inputs in this thread :clapping:

I currently have a QAcoustics 1000s in my HT setup that is woefully inadequate for my room (12x28). We are not huge bass junkies at home...in fact LFE rumble in the living room may result in several trips to the marriage counsellor ;)...would Velodyne 12-incher be good enough for my room? What are my other options? Do we have anything from SVS, HSU or Rel in the range of Rs.35K?

Danke!

SVS starting is 40900:ohyeah:... Not sure availability of HSU in india. Velodyne 12 will be just enough.. But SVS 12 inch is costly by 14000/- and will bring you house down.. No more visits to marriage counsellor...:ohyeah:

Glad that this thread is getting some very good insights, for me .. since I did not have opportunity to audition anything I just decided on Velodyne as mentioned earlier. Its doing pretty good for me from a perspective of a casual listener. The bass is much controlled and impressive even for thump producing songs.

I was just going through the SVS website, some of the subs they have can operate at inaudible frequencies(<20hz), damn!!! I wonder what the neighborhood dogs will have to say when these subs are turned on.

Hope I get to audition them some time.....

AFAIK ARN System Bangalore deal in SVS in your city. Try to audition them once before finalising. I am sure you won't be disappointed.

Cool, will ring them up tomorrow and try auditioning them on the same day if possible. Will post once I check it out. Thanks!

Hi,

If you can increase your budget then checkout subs from SVS, there are box as well as cylindrical..these will get you real deep bass..

Hi Ghostrider, I see you have the SVS pb12nsd sub. Can you give a brief review of that sub, and how it would compare with other subs you have had a chance to experience. I'm considering either the PB1000 or the sub you have.
Thanks

Hi,

First of all you won't get to demo SVS sub anywhere unless you have someone using it or you are based in Coimbatore, I mean it's very difficult.

Before freezing on SVS I had checked on PSB, Velodyne and BW but still was not satisfied with the thump I was looking for, my purchase of SVS was purely on reviews and discussion with couple of users and I am proud of my decision.

My demos with above were of movies ANTZ, U-571, HAUNTED, WAR OF THE WORLD, SAVING PVT RYAN, TRON (2010) and few more.

In short with others I could hear the bass but in my SVS I sense / feel it ;-)

Cheers..

Thanks for your feedback, I've had a chance auditioned the svs pb12nsd in Hyderabad. Hopefully the dealer will soon get stocks of pb1000 so I can check them out side-by-side!
