The 2013 Plasma Discussion Thread!

Also if u set black optimizer to dark room it is reported to improve blacks but cause mild dither in certain grey spaces according to hdtvtest

A firmware update improved this in uk and us i think.

Stil waiting for my f8500... I have a question for you. Do you find any banding or Dirty screen effect when camera pans in football or cricket. I kn plasmas are less susceptible to those but curious.

Not sure I understand what you mean.

How much did you get yours for?

Hey nmplasma a couple of more queries.....

A. How's the native sound quality of TV or HTIB is required?
B. any image retention problems? Are you following the anti image retention precautions?

I paid 1.85L and am told it will arrive tomorrow.

About the tv, I was asking if you see any motion banding(usually mild vertical bars) or dirty screen effect (mild stain like effects) that shows up in almost every LED TV(some more severe than others) when the camera does horizontal pans on solid color backgrounds typical of sports scenes. Infact if its there, it will show up in cricket broadcasts when the camera tracks the ball and pans.

Got some indicative pricing for 50ST60 - it is more expensive that GT50 from last year.

I will post more when I get the actual MRP.

Stock has arrived and will be in brandshops next week here.

Where are guys from Mumbai/ Delhi/ elsewhere?

Sound quality is very good for a TV, but no where close to a 5.1 or 7.1 effect. IF you have to enjoy BD's on this TV, you must setup a 5.1.

None. I have the setting where it shifts the image 1 pixel for fixed images.

Got it. No, there is no residue or panning what so ever. The only thing I am not happy is the Sports mode or Dynamic mode. They are brigth alright, but the picth or close up's look very wierd in them. So am using Movie mode for pretty much all kind of viewing.

Someone else inquired about where it is made - It is Made in India

Someone else inquired about No. of 3d glasses - they are 4. Battery included. Not rechargable.

Dynamic mode is crap in almost any TV. Yes, many prefer movie mode. Dont you like the "standard" setting? Also, does the judder that you see in certain scenes reduce with "movie mode" and "cinema smooth" ?

Is the TV connected to the internet? If yes, have you checked if there is a firmware update available within the TV setting?

Thats exactly what I do on my st50. Use only the true cinema mode for everything.
Dynamic mode is only for showrooms to show that plasmas are equally brighter as leds.

Have only spent time with Movie and Dynamic. Let me evaluate Standard. There is motion judder settings of Off / Standard / Smooth. Tried all, Smooth is better, than Standard, which is better than Off. But its not 100% eliminated in either. Again, I am being too picky with the stock quotes, coz I noticed. Can't notice in Sports or action sequences even with it set to Off.

Yes its connected. No firmware :( Thats the first thing I checked when I was setting up the TV.

Does f8500 have 96hz mode to play 24hz content?
This mode is not present on my st50. So I settle for 60hz.
