Samsung bought the TV back in buy back and handed over the cheque to me on Friday evening. Bought a new TV yesterday waiting for delivery now.

How did you proceed with the dispute ? And how much did you get back ? Full amount ?

i escalated the issue it went to the samsung head office, from their someone handled the case. As they did not have the part available for a 3 year old tv. They did the buyback of the TV @33% depreciation of the Invoice bill. I bought the Tv for 1.6 lakhs. Got the balance post 33% after depreciation in cheque, the entire event took 45 days.

The depreciation goes like this
1 Year - 2 Year : 16%
2 Year - 3 Year : 33%
3 Year - 4 Year : 49%

If the TV is older than 5 years then this policy is not applicable. It covers TV's that are under 5 years from the invoice date.

I am still trying to dig and find out what the policy is for extended warranty customers and what is the difference. Will they get 100% buy back or would there be something else.

I think it's different for customers with extended warranty. They get full refund / replacement if company can't provide parts for repair. Now, it might differ from company to company but it should be same for all.

I agree, but need confirmation on the same, till now no one has confirmed that. If they do that then it is surely beneficial.

You should upgrade to the latest one. 1018 which is available on the Smausng India website .2013.04.30 is the date.

This would be a difficult answer, as Samsung does not share the changes made in each firmware. Can be on various fronts, i was using the same and did not face any issues. You can try to google and see if it comes up.

Then, any problem installing your new firmware?

yes, i was using the firmware on my tv for some time. Now i do not have the tv as Samsung bought it back from me and now i have the PS64F8500.

The USB and lan ports stopped working. They said the entire board needs to be changed, but there was no part available globally so they bought it back at 33% depreciation and i bought a new tv.

Nope, it was OOW, but under 3 years old.Samsung provides support and service for the TV for 5 years. Post which they would not bother.
