The Movies I Liked

Maze runner : the scorch trials
The first part was better. If you give this a miss........ You wouldn't have missed much!:p
May be a 1 time watch........... If you've got nothing else to watch!

The Martian
Overall good entertainment. Edge of the seat stuff towards the end (along with some "chodoo" stuff too )
Good weekend family movie!

It has been on my to watch list for a while now, especially with Teen Wolf back on air.

I did enjoy the first one, so at least for the sake of continuity will need to catch up with this one, and get ready for the 3rd chapter.

Unfortunately with some of them, one has to see it for continuity. But it gets very irritating when even the authors have nothing new to add and make trilogies when a sequel would have been enough.

The Scorch trials is a prime example, the plot moves so sideways that at the end of it you feel, if I had skipped it and gone straight to Part 3, I wouldnt have missed much.

Concussion
Intriguing movie. Slow but keeps you glued! Will smith does a good job/justice to his role, Eventhough it's not what we are used seeing him in!

Quite right on the review.

Thanks to the negative reviews my expectations were quite low... so not much lost.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) - IMDb

Good performances... Dylan O'Brien continues to be good.

Doesn't do much to move the movie series forward... but not too bad for a young adult dystopian future flick. However, the movie does not stand on its own... so be sure to watch the first Maze Runner and once you do you have to follow through with the rest of the series... exactly as the producers and director want you to.

Pretty faces, all look like underwear models, decent pacing and a couple of moments that make you jump out of your seat. A tad bit too long tough... 90 mins would have made it a much better movie.

But all said and done it sets you up for part 3 nicely... though a long wait as its only coming in 2017.

Was in the mood for some mindless action... guess I should have known better.

Skin Trade (2014) - IMDb - Disappointing even with stars like Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Michael Jai White, Ron Perlman, Celina Jade, and Peter Weller.

About skin trade and how young girls are forced into prostitution and kidnapped for the same.

6 Bullets (2012) - IMDb - Same story... another boring Jean-Claude Van Damme movie.

Don't bother with either one.

Misconduct :
An ambitious lawyer in "Al Pachino's" firm lands in hot water when he takes on a case against the corrupt executive "Anthony Hopkins" of a pharmaceutical company.

A plot that twists way beyond credibility. However never can ignore a movie when these actors are there.

AIR:
The air outside is not breathable. 2 Engineers guard some people who are in a controlled state of suspended animation. These people are last hope for humanity( experts in different fields). Watched it for Norman Reedus of The walking dead fame.

Queen of the Desert
Gertrude Bell's life as an explorer, cartographer, and archaeologist for the British Empire.

Maybe Nicole is aiming for the Oscar. Director lost the option of showing how that character shaped modern day Iraq/Syria. And ...... Robert Pattinson as T.E. Lawrence :P

About to watch " The Lobster"

Re: The Movie I Liked

Watched Babadook, horror movie. Nice one with different approach of showing the evil. Lead actress and the boy acting is good. End may turn off few. Worth a try.

Sicario
Has a trilling start but ends in an American style : "wait is the movie over?? Is there a 2nd part"
It's about how the American govt. handles cross border drug syndicate!
1 time watch!!!

American Beauty directed by Sam Mendes
American Beauty (1999) - IMDb

This is one of the best pictures directed by Sam Mendes with superb acting.

This movie is about a middle aged man who feels neglected by the family and employer as he is not much successful and leads a boring life. This picture is all about how he comes out of his boring life and tries to do what ever he wants to do and could not do earlier. During the course of time, he further drifts away from his family. It is a kind of self destruction and at the same time, it can be construed as self realisation.

The dialogues in the movie are written with so much meaning and after the end of the movie, one keeps on thinking and could not help but appreciate the philosophy of this movie.

This movie reminds me the famous book Fountain Head by Ayn Rand in a strange way

Hope you also find this movie interesting

Cheers

Closely Watched Trains (1966)
A bumbling railroad dispatcher joins the resistance in World War II to impress the girls. [A beauty of a movie :)]

Greenberg (2010)
After suffering a mental breakdown, Roger (Ben Stiller) agrees to house-sit his brother's home in Los Angeles. He meets Florence, his brother's personal assistant and strikes an unlikely courtship with her.

Loved Roger's Character and Ben Stiller does justice to that role.

Ratter (2015) : Emma, a graduate student living alone in NYC, is being watched by a stalker who hacks into the technology that surrounds her.

I started using fastFWD after 40 mins. i should have skipped it completely :(

The Book of Life (Animation):

Brilliant colors, looks awesome on the BD . Good storyline as well.

Gothika (Horror)

Fullscreen BD, 2.35:1 aspect ratio (I find that a plus in any movie)
Amazing sound effects, especially the part when Hally Berry crosses the bridge, thunder and rain effects seem so real !!

Rise of the Planet of Apes
This was an unexpected win. I had ignored these ape movies for a long time, but bought this one at a discounted price.
Turned out to be areal good one .

A Good Year
Russel Crowe is a rich investment banker who inherits a vineyard. Spectacular looking french scenery and a nice storyline to boot. will keep you engrossed for the duration.

The Purge
This was unexpectedly a great watch , very nice sound Fx and fast paced.

After Earth
Will Smith hands over the mantle to his son in this one.
Not one for Will Smith fans, but a nice watch.

Hellboy 2 : The Golden Army
This was a movie that somehow missed my radar. Came to it after 10 yrs of release but the age doesnt show even today. Excellent sound for testing and showing off your HT.

Add Dredd to this list of the-ones-that-I-missed. Saw it on DVD , this one deserves to be seen on Blu Ray.

Project X:

What a crampingly fun movie, pity its just too short and how I wish that I should have downloaded this one (without the censor cuts)

Dredd has one of the best audio tracks on Blu-ray. The movie is ok, even entertaining, but the DTS-HD Master Audio track on it makes it a must own on Blu-ray for anyone with even a half decent home theater.

The surround sound is spot on, and the dynamic range is one of the best I've heard. This is truly a reference disk that can be used to demo HT equipment during auditions.

Mad Max : fury road
Godzilla
San Andreas

From a movie point of view they are ok to decent watch. Mad max being better than others! But if you've got a good HT........ Don't give it a miss. These movies literally shake your room if not your house. 5 stars for Bass! The home theatre litrally makes the movie watching experience better in their case.

Same goes for "Jupiter ascending"!
