The Movies I Liked

Guys any recommendations for some recent good action movies?

Nothing too old and certainly not with superheroes and comic characters... just plain action like the good stuff from the 80s.

Prefer English... not too keen on reading subtitles.

TIA!
Ones i liked -
Jack Reacher - Not sure how i missed this so long
Unthinkable - Not action but a great thriller
Equalizer
Kingsman the secret service - second half isn't great but overall very watchable
Spy - action/hilarious comedy
Eye in the sky - great thriller

regeHA, off the top of my head, you might like these movies:

The Drop
The Gunman
Gangster Squad
Black Mass
Lawless
13 Hours
Triple 9
Sicario
The Man From UNCLE
Run All Night
Son of a Gun

Not all are out and out action movies, but they are all movies that are above average movies, and are good thrillers. Some are not considered to be "good" movies, but I've enjoyed them nonetheless.

With a few exceptions, I'm not at all a fan of the superhero genre (I sense you aren't either). I do enjoy most of the superhero based TV mini-series though (probably because they are more human dramas than destruction-action). I wish the superhero-movie-bust would happen sooner than later, and investment money would flow into "regular" movies, action or not.

Since the 80's had also a range of action. Let me give my try.

Django unchained
Hateful Eight
Revenant
Fast&Furious Series
NFS
The A-Team
Expendables

Foreign Language(Dubbed)
Raid/Raid 2
Elite Squad1/2

recent good action movies or good stuff from the 80s.?

lol I was about to ask the same what shreeux did ..... recent action movies or good old stuff from 80s, OR recent action movies which r like the 80s.. :D

My apologies... I mean like 80s action flicks... like the Die Hard series, Terminator series, Rocky/Rambo series etc. In other words without comic superheroes, without tons of CGI, etc.

All of them are my faves... along with Predator... lost count how many times I've seen Predator. Even now its a regualr on Blu-ray for my enjoyment.

ok,

Don't fix the mind like 80s action flicks only...after watching few movies..Watch whichever good movies or come with good reviews...:)

Watching same movies one or two times ok..Instead of watching same movies again and again, watch new one with good reviews..Otherwise you will miss so many movies..also save time.

seen all except "sun of a gun" ...all are good some ok ...lawless, gangster squad and 13 hours will be my pick of this list.

Coming to Super Hero movies, well the only super hero movie I geniunly admired was Batman Begins and TDK. Rest are typical hollywwod masala, and I am ok with them, its fun and you do enjoy to an extent. I dont admire those movies, as such, but are an ok welcome. Of all the Sup Hero movies till date, Avengers 1, Iron Man 1 and CA:Winter Soldier are my best (ofcourse excluding BB and TDK, they are on a different level)

Seen all, from the above, Django unchained and the Hateful Eight would be my pick.... infact these two should not be even in the same list as the rest ...just too good quitessential QT movies ..... loved them ....

Elite Squad/RAID series were pretty good as well.

Unthinkable is unfortunately, the disgusting scenes of torture porn displayed as entertainment in flicks like Unthinkable may not be so unthinkable after all.

Unthinkable (2010)
R | 1h 37min | Drama, Thriller | 26 May 2010

what torture porn ??? dude man you completely missed the point of the movie ...its NOTHING even remotely like torture porn .... This was one heck of a movie. There was torture ok, but where the heck did porn come from ....lol.

How far are we really willing to go to save millions of people? When the entire country is at stake, how far is the US really willing to go when dealing with terrorists? It puts questions on government's moral and human rights. But at the end of the day, what if millions of lives are at stake????Can the government do whatever it wants for the sake of humanity. Will it do whatever it takes or whatever it believes is required for self-preservation, even though the entire ethics and morals are questionable????.

This movie flaunts that idea and does it with flying colors .............

"torture porn" my god ....:lol::lol:

Re: The Movie I Liked

Sam, I think he has used the word in the modern day usage meaning overuse or proliferation. Terms like food porn, word porn, data porn are being used today. The fact that he has used it as such, I would hazard a guess he wouldn't have heard of torture porn [emoji2]
