The Movies I Liked

THE ARYAN COUPLE.
A fairly engaging ww2 thriller, decently made,a rare movie showing Hitler in a prominent role all through the movie and that too as a kind person!,if that is unbelievable the story of him sparing a few Jews in exchange of property is completely unbelievable.
2.5 out of 5 stars.
The palace in the movie is beautiful.

Cold Mountain (2003) - IMDb - Starring Jude Law, Nicole Kidman, and Rene Zellweger and the movie is off to a good start based on the starcast alone. The intended goal is an epic love story, between Jude Law and Nicole Kidman, separated by war and distance, but the love/romantic element does not kick in because everything else takes focus like the war, lack, death, blood, bad men, etc. Rene Zellweger also puts in a fine performance and pulls her own, adding to the disctraction from the epic love story.

The story - Jude Law and Nicole Kidman have only met, and even before they share a kiss he has to leave to fight in the American Civil War. Then begins the love story of him finding his way back to her in Cold Mountain by fighting against all odds and hardships. On the way he finds the devastation the war has caused and also runs into helpful folks as well as villainous folks out looting and killing. The rest of the story is about how the separated lovers meet and what happens to them.

Cold Mountain is also littered with stars like Brendan Gleeson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Natalie Portman, Giovanni Ribisi, Donald Sutherland, Ray Winstone, Kathy Baker, and a young Charlie Hunnam.

All of this makes Cold Mountain a good movie, just not an all time epic. But considering the present spate of inane action movies, Cold Mountain makes for good viewing, especially considering the beautiful Nicole Kidman.

The Promise (2016) - IMDb - Another intended epic love story, but the goal here is really to reveal and make known the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire (now Turkey) in 1915, where 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Turkey - yeah way before Hitler and the Jews.

In a word, the movie works. The romance and love between Oscar Isaac and Charlotte Le Bon works, the love triangle with the addition of Christian Bale also works. Even better depicted is the Armenian Genocide and the hardships and eventual death faced by them by the Turks.

Some of the best cinematography I've seen in recent times, amazing landscapes, vistas, mountains, and the sea... only add to make this a beautiful movie.

Thanks to @shreeux for the recommendation.

A lonely place to die
Excellent cinematography, spell binding visuals, taught screen play, gripping narration, all make this a compelling watch.
This is much better than vertical limits, cliff hanger and other movies of the same genre, this movie has a story.

TARAMANI(Tamil)
I am stunned, there has never been a bolder movie and never in history women have been shown in such a bad light.
Apart from that, the movie is awesome, has to been seen to believe
I am happy that the director made what he liked not worrying if wome organisations and wings of political parties might ask for a ban.
In addition to being adults only, the movie is also a men only movie
Guys, watch it today itself but do not even attempt to watch it with family.
A must watch

Dirty Harry (1971) - IMDb

Magnum Force (1973) - IMDb

The Enforcer (1976) - IMDb

Sudden Impact (1983) - IMDb

The Dead Pool (1988) - IMDb

Saw the Dirty Harry series and thought I'd do a single write up.

Clint Eastwood plays Harry Callahan, a police inspector with the world's most powerful handgun, a .44 Magnum, who acts as judge, jury and executioner. In other words he will shoot first and ask questions later. Throughout the movies, Harry deals with the worst criminals from serial killers and psychopaths, to robbers, rapists, terrorists, celebrity killers, and even vigilante cops. If you have seen any cop movie, it's given that Dirty Harry has done it before.

The movies might come across as clich, but keep in mind the first movie came nearly 50 years ago, and the last one came nearly 30 years ago... so the clich will be all the other movies since either copying or ripping off the Dirty Harry series.

Other than typical cop action movies, all the movies are huge fun. Never a dull moment, don't go into too much psycho babble, and never let up on the action front.

Grab the popcorn and spend the weekend catching up on Dirty Harry... and kudos to Clint Eastwood who quit playing the character volitionally once he'd reached a certain age.

Cop Car (2015) - IMDb - Nicely done thriller that starts off slow, but then the suspense kicks in. Two young boys come across an empty police car and take it on a drive. Very soon Kevin Bacon, who is the owner of the car, goes on a hunt to find them. Two more characters are introduced that lead the movie into a game of cat and mouse, and it all ends up in a movie that is very nicely done indeed.

Good entertainment, done well, and on a budget. Does not take you on a mind numbing or taxing journey, keeps you entertained throughout. Good stuff.
