The Movies I Liked

Not meant to offend anyone. I started with Kalki and in 5 minutes couldn't take it anymore. I can't stand south Indian movies either as everything is exaggerated. Netflix English is really good.

looks like you've seen very few south indian movies and making a generalised statement based on limited exposure
My personal opinion, The generalized statement holds good.
Been watching since ages and most of the masala movies are the same.
There are few( or few+ ) exceptions - but we should keep them as exceptions

... its still a opinion.

The Bollywood masala movies are the same mix except with new faces sometimes.
A lot of Hollywood movies are also quite bad. Looks like the trend for dark horror serial killer and zombie movies are the in thing now.
You do miss the earlier Bollywood and Hollywood gems though when there were were talented script writers, directors and actors.

Watch Malyalam films

Some of the Malayalam movies are terrific cinemas. Script writing, screenplay, acting ,directions would be highlights.
Now some of these movies will have no exaggeration at all, pure cinema at heart
Sometime it's so pure that it might leave you speechless.
Whenever directors decide to make masala films and could not keep with the scripts or projecting something out of the box or trying to make things out of proportion, these films seem to be boring and exaggerated at time.
I wish I could suggest some good movies, but without knowing your genere, I might again give you some more reasons not to like South movies anymore.

Watch some of them with open heart.
