Topping TP20 tripath 2020 amplifier (versus NAD C320BEE)

I tried contacting the seller thru ebay messaging, but the seller has not responded to my messages yet.

Can I produce the ebay order receipt to the customs as Invoice ? If so how much duty I will have to pay, the ebay oreder receipt shows US$ 79.

On connecting to HK Post ...... "Material in the process of dispatch on 30th Sept".

So, the Topping finally leaves HK shores .... HK customs took 5 days to clear. Now, the wait for it to land in India ... another 3 to 6 weeks, as per the sender (Indeed Hi Fi Labs) .... material is being sent by Registered Mail.

nizrap - Please note some points
1. The seller would have already declared the value (as an invoice or otherwise) which will be available with the customs.
2. The invoice (or anyother similar document) you have, should match the value with the customs person (the document declared by seller when posting your item) who have your item.
3. If your value is marked low/gift probably there will be no customs charge or less charge.
4. I think your customs value should not exceed 1000Rs at the max (for the $79 you mentioned).
5. They would give you 10 or 15 days time before which you need to reply back. Wait for reasonable time and see if the seller responds. Before the stipulated date, send in the documents to the customs.
4. Once the customs value is marked (after seeing your document), you will need to collect at the local post office (if postman kind enough, he will deliver the product at your house) by paying the customs duty.
5. If you are in bangalore, you will need to either drop in to customs office at museum road or you can send them your document by post.

Hope this gives you some information.

Thanks sgmane.

I will wait for the seller to respond.

After a long wait, I received the product today. But I had to pay Rs.306/- as duty and handling charges.

Anyways I am happy that it received in good condition. Now I have to wait till the weekend to test it with my speakers.

You did not mention what you sent to the customs guys .. Would be useful to us others in such cases.

I requested the seller to send a duplicate copy of the actual invoice and on the bill, the price was mentioned as USD 20. I went to the customs office at Museum Road with the bill and waited for about one and half hours to see the officer. I submitted the bill there and I had to explain the guy about the product. Some how I explained him that it is a thing that increases the sound. :annoyed:

And then they sent it back to the post office again for delivery and I got it today. Even though the price was mentioned as USD 20, the postman gave me a bill with Duty: 276 + redirection charge: 30 = 306. I had to pay the amount to get the parcel. The box was open, but the product was in good condition.

Took hand delivery of the Topping today.

It had arrived at my doorsteps on the 4th Oct. My family was out on CWG vacations, hence the postman had to tow in the stuff almost daily till today, when, at last he found our door bell being answered.

That was indeed fast. Shipped from HK on 30th Sept, and the material actually received within 4 days flat. No customs duty levied.

Thanks Psychometric ......... the TOPPING KING. Lovely fit and finish. Now, the search for the 'right' speakers would begin in earnest ........ plan to do audition of at least 4 or 5 speakers before settling for the best in my budget of @ 15 k max.

If anyone has to buy the Topping ..... would blindly recommend "Indeed-Hi-Fi" to be the seller in eBay.

Got JBL Control 1 speakers .... 89 dB and 8 ohm specs. Bought it from the JBL Stores, C.R Park. Pretty VFM stuff at 7.5k.

Auditioned quite a number of JBL speakers for a change ... don't remember the model nos. ... but some BS stuff with horn tweeters costing 3.5 L .. right down to 6 k. The horn thing was just .... out of the world, with a 3D sound imaging.

The Control 1 isn't imposing to look at .... has a metal grill on the facia, heavy plastic body, 4" woofer, 12 mm tweeter ..... but, a huuuge soundstage. The Topping is giving a phenomenal output from these speakers ... filling my 200 sq.ft living room with loud ..... yes, loud clear sound, no distortions even with the volume knob at 3'O clock.

Hopefully the sound should get better after the 24 hour break-in.

Must say, WITHOUT a doubt that this Topping, if coupled to the right speaker, is BETTER than ALL Indian as well as 'most' foreign branded integrated amps.

Thanks, Psycho ......

Are you talking about the same speakers as in below link . It says 87db n 4 ohms

Nope, mines slightly different ..... lookwise, quite similar.

89 dB, 8 ohms, front ported, 100 W RMS, 228 h x 155 w x 139 d, 2.4 kg each
4" woofer, 12 mm titanium laminate tweeter, Fq response: 80 hz to 20 khz

hey avidyarthy, glad you're enjoying it! The Topping really is a wonderful amplifier. With the right speakers, I can confidently say that you'd be hard pressed to find an amp below 30k that can match up.
