Topping TP20 tripath 2020 amplifier (versus NAD C320BEE)

Hey Friends,

The Toppings really seems to be becoming one of the preferred amp for music here :-)

I need some suggestion - I have PSB Image B6 speakers that i use for movies with my Onkyo Amp...

Is it ok to connect PSB Image B6 with Toppings amp for music? ( The reason why i am asking is that my speakers have minimum impedance of 4 ohms...)

If not then can any one suggest any similar amp like Toppings (which performs really well and is reasonably priced) that can support 4 ohms speakers.

Thanks a ton for your help....

Regards,
Naren

I am also planning to get TP20 after reading the reviews here.
Appreciate comments from anyone who has tried this amp. with a PSB Image B6 or MS Aviano-2 speakers. I am looking out for either of these 2 speakers to match TP20. I like tight bass with good vocals.

Currently I own Onkyo-3300. Which one of these 2 speakers matches well with TP20 for my listening preference?

Sorry if this is slightly off topic!

Thanks

My Tripath amp sounded good when it worked but after 6 months of usage, one channel simply died one day.
I contacted the eBay seller and asked for a replacement/refund but the seller refused saying that the amp is out of it's guarantee period so nothing doing. However, they provided me a discount of 10% if I buy the next amp from them again :ohyeah::mad:
The whole episode has really frustrating as I really liked the sound quality of this amp but now I am totally wary of the brand China products.

Show it to any local DIYer electronic guy back there. The issue cannot be with the 'chip'. More to do with some capacitor or resistance blow out, which can be easily replaced and shan't cost a bomb. The repair guy only has to find a right match to the damaged component.

how about using topping tp20 with a tube pre-amp , maybe lyrita tube pre-amp or any other tube pre-amp . Would it work well enough .... would I get some kind of tube sound ?

A Lyrita might be an overkill for a Topping. I'd be tempted to go with something like this:

MKIV Universal Pre-amp Uses all double triode 9 pins valves! 14~30V input | eBay

Also, if I don't have the Topping yet, I'd be tempted to go with Arjen Helder's version of the TA2020 implementation:

New MKIII Tripath TA2020 PCB 25watt Class-T amplifier | eBay

Just in case anyone is wondering, I am still using the Tripath TP20 as my only stereo amplifier and I am very happy! I've changed speakers and source since then, but the Topping remains in place, and doesn't look like being dislodged. The power supply broke a few months ago, but I just popped over the local electronics store and bought a 12V, 5A PSU and i was back in action in no time :)

The links point to kits , I do not know if he (arjen helder ) ships full body pieces not just kits upon request . I have sent him a mail on this.

How difficult is if we have got a kit , to procure the body in which to house it ?
Also what about the power supply for the amp from arjen or the ALPS BLUE potentiometer enhancement for tube pre-amp . Should I get it locally ?

Thanks,
Manish

Did you notice any changes when you went from 2A to 5A power supply, more volume, better/more bass, less distortion etc. I would like to test mine with more voltage and current handling psu but unfortunately done have one.

but is it a finished product?

also aren't t-amps supposed to already sound tube like?
