Hi Reuben,

Now a days, I think, I'm having a whale of a time with vinyls!!!

I start the phono button at 6:00AM in the morning till 8:30AM; An evening session kicks again at 6:00PM , and then hand over the baton to wify very promptly by 7:55 for her Star World sops till 10:00; From then on, I hold them, till my eyes droop. But it has a serious draw back...It is eating up my reading time, terribly!!.

Sad, my listening s got saturated with my limited collections, I'm thinking of hauling another lot of vinyls.

Your morning and evening schedule reminds me of my school days in junior and middle school when I used to listen to Radio Ceylon (SLBC). I used to get up at 5:55am and they used to come on the air at 6am with some music for aerobics. I used to love that so much that I even had a tape of it for a long long time. Used to finish the morning session at 7:30am as we had to get ready for school. The time slot used by your wife for sops kind of used to be used by mom to get us though our studies. I used to close on music by 11am when the station played the Srilankan national anthem and switched off. I would then switch to BBC World Service Radio for the 11:15pm sports round up and close down for the day at 12 midnight after the 11:30pm BBC News (yes I used to be a nerd who actually listened to the News even though when I was in Standard 4  )

Vinyl listening can be time consuming. So I usually do some other work as well while listening. You truly have a great collection, especially since your recent trip to Cal (or Kol I should say) :)

I remember well watching this movie in the front row seat, when I was young !!

I cared two hoots who the composer was,then.. But suddenly, off late I paid some attention to details, and once I found it was R.D.Burman composing for Tamil movie and its become catchy..

If this is interesting to any serious collectors , who could cherish it more than me, pls let me know.. I would courier it to you ,for free

RD Burman has composed for 2 Tamil Films between 87 and 90 and one more released in 2005 with his few earlier recorded songs in the album "KAETTAVAR ELLAM PAADALAM".

1987: Poomazhai Pozhiyuthu
1990: Ulagam Pirandhadhu Enakkaga.

Something about the LOGO: [Thanks to wiki]
9 alternately black and white circles that decrease in size and whose midpoints follow a straight line are superimposed on each other. This again is repeated three times in ever smaller size. The three circle groups are alternately placed upward (1 and 3) and downward (2). The relation of the three circle groups is chosen so that the perimeter of the third lies on the midpoint of the first - the second lies halfway. Sounds complicated, but is in fact simplicity itself. This logo is one of record history's most astonishing

Hi Anil,

This album KAETTAVAR ELLAM PAADALAM is a news to me. I am R.D.Burman fan and would request to share the details of this album.

Thanks in advance.

Sunday noon..

Beethoven's TRIO.. Piano, violin & cello .These Trois are composed during the matured period of his creative art. Russian pressing recorded in 1963.

Tchaikovsky concerto no 1 in B flat op 23. The complexity of this composition seems to be an extremely challenging one to the performers, that even N.Rubinstein refused play it in public. A Great Britain pressing

I became a fan of Great Andrew Lloyd Webber after listening to "I Don't Know How to Love Him" in a Audio TAPE my father got from a friend. Father recorded that in a Spool with his choice of other songs... It is a nice torch type ballad...
Lately I could collect the LP...
Jesus Christ Super Star:

a shift from western to Indian Classical... Sindhu Bairavi in Telugu I could collect recently.

Now running, the very first Tamil Song of Shri K.J. Jesudos (that's the HMV Calcutta version for Yesudas hi! hi! ) "Neeyum Bommai Naanum Bommai" in 78 RPM. Music by Veena Balachandar. Film: Bommai 1963.
nYs53DT.jpg

Shri Balachandar used pieces of western classical type BGM in this movie..
Shri Yesudas took special care in the rendition, not to bring any classical sangathees as the song was sung by a blind street man in the movie...

A long evening session .. OST film scores..

Freddie mercury balsara -Teachers
Giorgio Morader -Flash dance
And bit of humour with J.C

did some re-work yesterday (disengaged the rig completely for a clean up) and returned to the old school way of listening to music. Just a turntable and an amp. Did some vinyl listening over Saturday with my 2 sons, till a thunderstorm struck and got me to switch off the equipment.
Reuben,
Nice feeling! esp. when it is listening with kids ... I try to revisit my younger days, when my son (doing his 10th now) joins me....in the cleaning-playing-listening process....

Reuben, that ABBA cover is nice.. First time seeing this..

Above all, the kids are cute and energetic..

yes, I have the Abba Lp in good condition with original cover. The cover is unique and so is the label on the LP. For the first time, I've seen a polydor LP with the artist name printed with huge font (perhaps reflective of the popularity of Abba at the time)

yes, both kids are fond of LP listening. They have dad's habit of sitting and staring at the playing record (I used to do this when I was their age). This however leaves me with a few nervous moments especially if I'm playing records without the dust over on :)

Yes, its very important for Gen-Nxt to be given proper vinyl education

This is exactly what my father did when I was their age. We used to sit together and listen to records for hours on Saturdays and Sundays. That's when we used to have long conversations about Hi-Fi and his audio experiments.
