Slightly OT:
I have been listening to this 1958 Decca recording (Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No 1) which says it is an ffss recording, without realising that it has ffss equalisation. My phono stage is RIAA. What part of the music would I be missing or getting extra?

BTW, the LP, cover and inner sleeve are in very fine condition for such and old record and the vinyl still has the new LP glaze. Slight surface noise, though.

It most likely does have RIAA equalisation. ffss was Decca's series for Stereo records, as opposed to the ffrr Mono series. Deccas pressed before 1954 are more likely to have a proprietary equalisation, as RIAA became the standard around '54-55. The proprietary curves (Columbia, Decca, etc) were not hugely different from what RIAA ultimately turned out to be, so you're unlikely to hear any major differences. Then again, there are a few high-end phono stages with different EQ options for those who are a bit paranoid about these things.

The music sounded rather nice so I was wondering what is all this fuss about exotic curves:)
Of course I don't have a CD version to compare it to so I guess I should just sit back and enjoy.

Want to know, does Asha Bhosle album has original songs or the re-recorded live version and how is the recording quality?

Regards

Hi Vasu,
the Asha Bhosle album has re-recorded live version. Very very good recording and very well edited removing the unnecessary talkings that are part of most of the live albums. I think they should have released a double or triple album covering more songs.
Thanks

Yes..One of my favorite too. Luckily I managed to get a brand new sealed copy of this LP recently from one of the amazon sellers:):) Bit expensive though.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
