Vinyl I am listening to...

Got my Lps delivered. Currently mesmerised by the last gems of great RD Burman, 1942 A Love Story. THe vinyl pressing is excellent, seems been pressed in Germany. This album has a nostalgia associated with it...Its simply amazing. Album art is disappointing & so is the overall pakaging & material of cover.
Pyar Hua chupke se, Rooth na jana & Kuch na kaho my fav. in this album.

Happy listening Saket

A very good LP to start with...I remember I was the first one to get hold of the cassette in my school days (the HMV dealer infact tore open a huge carton and handed over me the cassette when I asked if the cassette was out)...try saregama.com, they have a few LPs to sell...all the best...
cheers!!!!

Thanks Abhraneel...
Though not my first LP...have a collection of about 500 Eps & LPs. Some inherited by me from Dad, some I bought from 'various places.' Got some 8-9 LPs from flipkart recently though...Prices were enough to put a dent on my pocket!! but I guess thats the way vinyl lovers live.
Presently spinning those LPs on philips 832. At times on a Philips 633. Also have two old HMV Fiesta from 70s & 80s. One (the 80s one ) is quite similar to yours. Looking to invest in a used Technics.
Keep spinning those lovely vinyls...

Regards,
Saket

Famous Last Words-1982 was the last ST album where Rick Davis and Roger Hodgson worked together. After quitting ST, Hodgson started working on solo projects - Ive one of his first LP In The Eye of the Storm-1984 and immensely liked it. Without Hodgson ST could never reach former glories. However, I liked their later albums Brother Where You Bound-1985 & Slow Motion-2002 - Free as a Bird-1987 was forgettable & Some Things Never Change-1997 was a bit tedious. Ive most of STs albums in LP format released till 1985 & the later ones in CD format. jls001s post brought back the memories of bygone days. Ive to get my TT serviced and get my LPs spinning again, though I prefer CD format for obvious reasons.

Thats a huge collection Saket..keep it up...any particular "place" you get your LPs from?i have recently purchased 2 LPs from ngh.co.in...you can check their website...the LPs delivered were of very good quality..and there's a antique shop here in b'lore who has some 20k records, you got to have enough time to sit there and seach for the good ones...
cheers..

Hey Abhraneel,

Most of my Lps were inherited. I got some from a friend who had 'no use' of them. Many I have shopped on streets of Kolkata. Some new hindi lps were purchased from Flipkart.
ABout NGH, yes, I got 2 albums (2 Lps set of Aashiqui & Dil hai ki manta nahin each) from Anuj, the guy who owns the store now but the disks apparently were not new but costed pretty much like new!! Won't complain though because of the gr8 songs in the album & no scratches on disks. NGH has a huge collection of records. By the way, for how much the lps selling in b'lore?
Just a suggestion, in case you buy new releases on LPs, you should consider flipkart. Often they have discounts & their delivery mechanism is express. Not to mention their 30 day return policy. But of course, other old & rare stuff, you can only get in NGH.

Friday Night In San Francisco - Al di Meola, Paco de Lucia and John McLaughlin, label Philips, reissued by ProJect. I get positively lachrymose whenever I listen to Mediterranean Sundance.

Groovin' to David Sanborn's LP "Straight to the Heart". One very nice sax album with very good mastering. My second copy, actually. I bent the edge of my first copy beyond redemption and I found this one after a longish search.

My introduction to sax music was through the music of David Sanborn and Sadao Watanabe. For that favour I will always hold them in high esteem.
